i am trying to find my adopted sister MAVIS BEANLAND born 1942 in leeds yorkshire,her birth mother was joan beanland .

Any idea when she was born?

There seems to be quite a few born in that area

If you know for sure she was adopted add your name to the Adoption contact register, incase she is looking for her birth family

Have you also tried the search trees on here?

A quick look at trees shows you have her listed 20 odd times. Is this a GR error?

Otherwise, If someone want to contacted you, which name would they choose?

Had a PM to say that Joan was her mother but no dates were given.

Have you looked for Beandlands with mother's maiden name Beanland on Freebmd?

If your mother had a baby before she married you need to tell us when that was so we can narrow down dates.

If your mother was born 1921, we need to look from about 1937 until her first marriage but you haven't told us when that was.

If she married a Fothergill, I see a Mavis born 1942 and a Jean born 1944.

yes my mum married a harry fothergill,had a baby named jean beanland who was adopted i am in contact with her she found me on here last year

yes its looking like mavis beanland i born 1942 is our sister born 1942 ,my mums name joan beanland born march 1921 and my other sister jean beanland born march 1944 and later married a harry fothergill in dec 1944, thanks for everyones help

Looks like it is Mavis then. You might want to get the birth cert to be sure and to get Mavis' date of birth.

Must have been odd to have been contacted by another Jean. Did you have any idea she existed?
