My birth family surname is weale. I was born in Reading Berkshire and adopted in 1956. I am trying to locate records about my half sister but can only find details of a birth - not sure where to go from here .... any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Do you think that your half sister was also adopted, and so now has a different name?

Do you have your adoption file? Does that give any clues if she was also adopted, or if she remained with a parent?

Try reading the first post on this board which has a number of hints and suggestions, and the links provided by GR on the summary of this board.

Assuming you know her birth name, add it to your tree on here (and search trees)

If you believe she retained her birth name, then you need to look for a possible marriage, which people can help you with, if you so wish. You may be able to do so yourself using the GR held gro indexes.

Make sure you keep your registered email address with GR up-to-date even if you no longer subscribe.

Good luck
