I would advise them to do several things.

1. google 'adoption contact register' - this will give the UK govt. site which tells you how to register contact details, and search for him in case he is registered also.
2. They can contact the charity 'NORCAP' for advice - again, just do a google search.
3. Start a family tree and put all known relatives on it, on the off-chance that he does the same one day - make sure you check other people's trees too. It's a long shot but you never know!

Even if he doesn't know he is adopted. or isn't interested, you can do no harm by following the above steps, as all this depends on him trying to trace his birth family.

Hi Jan,
No im not related I'm doing it on behalf of a friend (they would be cousins)
How do I go about putting a name on the register?
Also he may not know hes adopted as he was given up so young and when his mother tried to contact the place where she had given him up there were no documents. All thats left is a birth certificate.
Thank-you for your response sorry I didnt gget back to you sooner
Kind Regards,
Lauren

Are you related? You need to put your name on the National Adoption Register in case Ralph goes looking for his birth family.

Looking for the above person was born in 1960 in Mansfield. He was given up for adoption after 4 weeks. May no longer have the same name.
Thanks
