Hi,
I am seeking my sister, Tara Tann born in 1970. i know she was adopted. When you look at the birth record and the volume and page is crossed out and replaced in pen what does that mean?

I think that indicates that the person was adopted.

Have you been in touch with the adoption society and left a letter in case Tara decides to look for her birth family?

You could also contact NORCAP.

Hi,
I have tried everything to contact her and struggling. I sent Nicky Campbell a tweet and he answered so hoping that route might work. I gather i cant trace that number that has been inserted in

What sort of ''everything'' have you actually tried?
Presumably if you know she was adopted and have no idea of her post adoption name, there are little other options than as suggested above, other than searching trees on here.

I dont know quite what Nicky Campbell can do, there is no way t access the record that tells you what her post adoption name is, however famous you are

I am sorry but only adopted people can initiate contact so until your sister makes the first move all you can do is as Kath suggested,

Also if you google i think their are a couple of other sites that you can add details,

If and when she decides to come looking then its best that you make it easier for her by making sure that you stay on as many social networking sites as possible

Penny

I think that on last week's "Long Lost Family" Nicky Campbell did say that they had used a special intermediary to contact someone who was adopted - so perhaps it can be done if you have the right connections!

But what connections I wonder. I just do not see it. The whole process is confidential surely? I assume these people have already made steps to contact their birth family. An intermediary would presumably be there to make the process as easy as possible.

An adopted person of legal age doesnt have to put themselves forward anywhere to seek birth family if they have full details of birth.

Birth families can be assisted with steps to seek contact,,,,,,this must be done by an intermediary and is none disclousure.and assess meetings must take place.and application maybe refused if its deemed that it maybe unsuitable or distressing for the adoptee at that time for many reasons,

It just wouldnt be seemed right to introduce an adoptee to a birth family where the birth mother is substance dependant.or has a high criminal record......

and that worries me when people on here just fly off with addresses never knowing where they are sending that desperate person looking for birth families......

Whats seen on LLF is cut and shut together and NC or DMc have no access to any adoptees file.nor can they gain any,,,councilling sessions takes place for all parties before any steps to meet.

They would have no program if the birth moher said 'no' - they must surely use the adoption contact register? All the bith mums are full of joy about it - Have they shown any ''no thank you, go away ' episodes? No, that isn't what they prog is about.

they also haven't looked for adoptees, its always adpotees seeking.

The reason for this? A person may go to their grave not ever knowing they are adopted. An adoptive parent isn't obliged to tell a child they were adopted.

Tara included

She may not know she is adopted - imagine how it could blow someones life into pieces.

Thats why the moves should come from the adoptee, not the birth side
