John, is she adopted? I ask as you mention her 'birth name'.
If so, you need to put your name on the National Adoption Register - if she is trying to trace her birth family she might be on there, or register in the future.

She doesn't seem to be listed on 'trees' on this site.

Make sure that you have added her to your own tree just in case she or somone close to her is also looking for birth family.

Even if you let your sub lapse, make sure that GR always has an up to date email address.

Do you know if she was born at Brettargh Holt? It should show on the original birth certificate, as should confirmation of adoption (some children from there were not adopted but sent to Nazereth House Lancaster).

If she was born there, adoptions were arranged through the Catholic Caring Society - there is some history on their site:

http://www.caritascare.org.uk/about/history/brettargh-holt-maternity-home/

If you contact Caritas they may be able to tell you whether your sister has accessed her adoption file and if so make contact with her on your behalf.

Good luck
