Have you tried Search Trees on this site?

There is another member who has an Alexander Maughan (1836) in his tree.

You could try contacting him to see if you have a connection.

I am looking for help to finding relatives in America of my g uncle Alexander who
was born in Northern Ireland and baptised at Comber Church of Ireland on the
14th February 1836 under the surname McMahon, his parents are Robert and
Elizabeth. On the 25th June Alexander married Elizabeth Cairns in Auckland,
County Durham, England, they emigrated to America about 1864 and I do know
that they had children, James, Thomas, Esther, Mary, Jane and Margaret(Maggie). I think James and Esther may have been born in England also a boy
Alexander, so I don't know if they all went out to America together, or if any of the children followed. I do know that when Alexander died in July 1901 he and
Elizabeth were living in Hazleton, PA and he had been a miner, some of the
children had by then married. I would love to find any loving relatives of my g uncle as I am sure his children must have had children.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I may get some help.
Thanks
Jane.
