Trying to trace my uncle

I am trying to find information on my uncle John(Jackie) Mitchell.
He was born in U.S.A on 11th January 1931. His mum's name was Selina Mitchell(nee Gilmour) and his father's name was Eric. They came back from the states in the 1930's. I know that he joined the Royal Navy but I am not sure when. The last time my dad saw his brother was in 1962 at his mother's funeral.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not seeing a death for Selina in 1962. Is this a Scotland lookup?

Selina Gilmour was born in Dunblane in 1905

Selina was born in Dunbarton, Scotland on 4th january 1905 and died in Alexandria, Scotland on 22nd August 1962. As far as I know John didn't have a middle initial.Sorry for the late reply.
