To the best of your knowledge, is his father still alive? if so, where was he last living, and when?

You could look on Scotlandspeople for his BC. This is a pay to view site. That would give your step son's paternal grandparent's names. I believe MC's for Scotland also give this information, so if your step son's parents were married there, that should give the same information.

You could then see if there were other children from the grandparents marriage, either in Scotland, or on Freebmd if in England/Wales.

Armed with names, it may be possible to find subsequent marriages and cousins, and possibly addresses on ER or the phonebook, or make contact via Facebook/fFriendsreunited.

Once you've got some leads, come back to the thread and fellow GR members will try to help you track them down.

A simple first step is to see if there are any matches on here by using 'search trees' above. Someone called William has a William Hannigan born Paisley 1942. I would try contacting him if you haven't already and see if there is a link.

hi .i am trying to find relatives on behalf of my stepson .his father was born in paisley scotland 1940s william hannigan.his son (my stepson) does not know of any relatives on his fathers side of his family.regards fred.
