Hi

I am new to GenesReunited and am searching all records for information.
I have a problem in that I cannot find certain people in the births deaths and marriages section. Can someone explain why for example my dad's details do not come up under birth or marriage records? There are several relatives this happens for. I know that I have the correct information for them?

Thank you.
Sarah.

Can't comment on this website's records but ancestry.com has an absolutely astonishing number of records that have just been badly transcribed ~ for example, they may miss a letter of the surname, Lockey instead of Lockley was one I found yesterday, so unless you unluckily misspell your own dad's details in a search, it won't find him. However, you say this occurs for "several" relatives, and if that's really the case, then I would question the information you have ~ it seems highly strange for several members of the same family not to have details in official records.

....unless their records are not English/Welsh

Hi Paul

well thank you very much. I just misspelt my dad's surname on purpose and it came up straight away on the birth and marriage records!! Thanks again.

If you are looking 1837-1950ish use Freebmd instead - there is a 'Phonetic search surnames' option which will allow for variations.
