too much personal information in your first post, Sarah-Jane, if you read the instructions you will see that an exact date of birth is not one of the things that should be posted here, for the privacy of people who have not consented to being discussed on the internet ... anyone with a search engine can find this website

if your daughter wants to contact you then she will register with the adoption registry it would seem but I agree that Norcap is highly recommended

make sure you keep your email address up to date in your account details at this site ... even if you stop being a paying member, another paying member can still contact you by private message if they search trees and find yourself or Katie in your tree

Which agency was used ? was it an open adoption ? your best bet would be to contact the agency that arranged the adoption to see if they will assist you with your search,as your daughter is now over 18 it may be that they will forward on a letter to your daughter on your behalf.

I would imagine it's like jigsaw pieces and clues.
Take for example the program "Long lost families" (I think it was called).
They use researchers to find their information, in conjunction with NORCAP.

I'm intrigued by this Eugenie. How would that work? Presumably the files are confidential, so how would such a person set about finding someone?

You could always try a Registered Independent Social Worker who specialises in tracing people affected by adoption. Sometimes this approach is more proactive than registering and waiting for the contact to come to you.

Have you put your name on the adoption contact register? You might also ask NORCAP for advice.

im looking for my daughter katie who was born on 28th sept 1990 in Birmingham and sadly adopted shortly after.Up until her adoption she was fostered by a family who lived in Druids Heath, Birmingham.Her last name was changed by her adotive family. I believe a middle name was added.If any one can help me with my search please contact me. Not a day has gone by without me thinking of her.. <3
