Fergus Report 23 Dec 2011 23:44

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone can help. I have now found out that James' daughter Harriet Gordon Dawson left for the Cape of South Africa on the 9th September 1930. Her boat the Ubena departed from Southampton.

I was wondering if anyone knew of the best way of tracing relatives in South Africa

Merry Xmas

Still looking for any help on this. I have looked on Scotlands People and there is no registered death that I can find for either Mary Jane Black or Harriet Gordon Dawson.

I have also found that his sisters Minnie and Edith married into the Booth and Horne Family respectively and both died in the 1940's.

If this helps to jog anyone's memory or anyone finds anything about James Duff Dawson or any parts of his family I would be really grateful if they get in touch.

Thanks

I've now found some further information that James Duff Dawson had at least one child a Harriet Gordon Dawson in 1905 (sourced from 1911 census) and possibly a second James Gordon Dawson born in 1911.

James died in Carnoustie in 1949. If anyone knows anything about Harriet or James I would be really grateful if they got in touch.

Thanks for your help to date and in the future

If he married in 1904 he should be on the scottish 1911 (if thats where they stayed) with children do you have that?

If not...it is pay to view on scotlandspeople

Have you tried the search trees as I had mentioned at the start of this thread? If you find a connection you can then contact them as long as they have not changed their email address

It is very unlikely that any living relatives will see this in the near future.

I'm looking for any living relatives of James Duff Dawson, James was born in Aberdeenshire in 1871 and I know he married a Mary Ann Black in 1904.

James also had a number of brothers and sisters all born in and around the 1870's.

The reason I would like to hear from anyone knowing of any of James living relatives is there is a possibility James may have been my grandfather. I don't know for sure as my father's father was not named on the birth certificate however it has been mentioned that it maybe a possibility and I would like to confirm one way or another.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks
