Have you tried a search on this site, friends reunited, facebook or the electoral rolls. You can do a street search on friends reunited if you have his last known address, there may be a neighbour listed who would know of him.
The death cert. would give the name and address of the informant, which could be a relative.

Last saw Micheal in 1984/5 in Chelmsford Essex where I lived at the time.He lived in London. May have gone to Irland after his father died in 1984/5. his mother Annie was from irland nd his Father was Harry FH born 1906. from helen Barnes nee Ward
