Emma,

The ACR WILL give the Full Adoptive Name NOT Birth name. That's how you order the Cert, If It gave the Birth Name it would be too easy to find people!!

No Emma it wont give you their adoptive name (( only full birth name)).to order you need to know the adoptive name year of adoption,,,, often over the phone they will ask for adoptive parents names.

To order an Adoption Cert you need Date of Birth of Adoptee, Year of Adoption, Full Adopted Name.......... NOT Adoptive Parents Names I have just ordered 2 online 10 mins ago............

The indexes are in the birth name only and and entry number into the ACR,there is no ref to the new name/s,that part is kept in the ACR and not open to the public.

To apply for a adoption certificate you need full details.dates and adoptive parents names.

I'm really confused, i've been told i can access the index but not the full record. I have to go to a library to do this? Will the index enable me to get a copy of the adoption certificate?

I won't be doing this for a while yet (i would use it as a last resort seen as it'll be very time consuming and a lot of traveling/money), but i was just wondering if anyone could explain?
