Alice Rosson - Born 22 Nov 1883. St Giles, London

Alice was my great aunt and youngest sister of my grandma Sarah Susannah Rosson. Their parents were Emma and Richard Rosson and the family lived at Betterton Street, St Giles, London.

Emma died of smallpox in 1884 and Richard tried to look after family but they had to go into St Giles Workhouse. Although Alice stayed in St Giles Workhouse, her next two elder sisters (Sarah and Charlotte) were fostered by Barnardos and sent to Hampshire. They returned to London to go into service.

Does anyone know what happened to Alice? (She did not have a middle name).

How are you so definite that she does not have a middle name, as her two sisters are Sarah Susannah and Charlotte Agnes?

Have you found the family in 1881?
Thanks

Thank you everyone.

I have now been told that Alice was born on 22 November 1883 but not registered until 3 January 1884, so that's why there is a query on her birth year. Also the same person has told me that she has Alice's birth certificate which shows the correct parents and address in Betterton Street, Lond - and Alice does not have a middle name on the certificate.

Perhaps she never married. Also, her father Richard did not have a middle name on his birth certificate, so not Richard George Rosson.

However, I'll keep looking.

Forgot to add that the surname Rosson is spelt as Rowson on Alice's birth certificate.
