Having checked for a birth, are you sure the name isn't Zapata? Not sure if it helps but there seems to be a Berta Zapata on Facebook - written in Spanish though obviously!!

there are so many on facebook !

one thing that may help ... for Spanish names

from looking at the birth record in the index

Berta's surname wasn't really Zapata, that was her mother's surname

I am going to substitute a made-up name for the other part of her surname, which is her father's surname and the one she would really use as her surname ... 'Anderson'

so her surname was actually 'Anderson Zapata'

if she married and adopted her husban'd surname, it is the Anderson that would still be part of her name

for example if she married Juan Hernandez Alvarez, she would probably now be Berta Anderson Hernandez

so if you are doing searches at facebook or the like it is 'Berta Anderson' you want to look for.

there are two marriages in the London area in the 1980s for women with the same double surname as Berta's

do you know of them? I will send you that information privately in case it helps

and also a similar birth a little later than your friend

-edit-

Becky has replied with thanks and her friend will look into the information I sent
