Alexandra,

adopted people and birth relatives can register their details on the Adoption Contact Register at the General Register Office, Southport.

You could also try NORCAP, they specialise in trying to reunite adopted people and their birth families.

Good luck.

hi i think the 2nd post was deleted, but not by me, as i made more then one (unknowingly i made a faux pas in GR etiquette)

thankyou so much for your suggestions i really apreciate it xxx
my brother tells me our grandad says it was a girl, though we are not 100% sure of this so am following the girl route first.
i will follow yor instructions re the registration office asap as i have 15 possibilities xx thanks again, you've been a great help.

I have sent Alexandra a possible days ago.
No response no thanks etc

BUT I thought she NOW says it was a GIRL ???
But she has deleted that thread.

Only way to do it, is write to the registration office, enclosing a cheque for £9.25 & a SAE asking ONLY to supply the certificate if the mother is Joanna Francis Godfrey.

The one I send was adopted.

:-S

ps all registration offices addresses etc are on GOOGLE

in response to earlier questions - we only know that my mother was sent away to have her baby, but to where nobody knows. My grandad knew but died a few weeks ago so we cant find that out. The information has only just presented itself since my grandfather died. Mum passed away a few years ago. We don't know who the babys father was, so we literally have a tiny amount of detail to go on xxx thankyou for all your suggestions of where to look etc, i really am v grateful xxx

I have sent Alexandra a private message explaining what she needs to do and why she must not keep starting new threads ( 3 now ) and ignoring people's messages to her

Joanna later married in Birmingham?

There are no births in Birmingham 1962 to 1966 named Godfrey with mother's surname Godfrey ...

in fact there are no births named Godfrey with mother's surname Godfrey anywhere 1963 to 1965

... except in 1964 there is a birth in Bristol ... but the unnamed male child died at or shortly after birth ...

-edit- I hate Ancestry sometimes, whatever I did there did not work, now it's showing me dozens of Godfrey-Godfrey births 1963-1965 ... including two girls in Birmingham ...

if you can give any other details it could help find something

-edit- by adding a post to this thread ( use the 'add reply' box at the bottom ) not by starting a duplicate thread ......

best wishes

Where did your Mother live at this time ?, this may help rule out a lot of possible births at this time to single Mothers.

born in 1964/1965 in a home where teenage mums had their babies, born surname godfrey, to joanna francis godfrey aged 16/17yrs at that time. Adopted after then, this is all the info we have xxx
