He may have lived with a partner etc. & had children or at least it maybe someone who knew him.

Unfortunately, as far as I can make out, he was estranged from the family, both his immediate family and extended family. I'm thinking it was just co-incidence that he ended up in Sunderland rather than going because his sister was there. I was taking a very long shot and appealing to (and hoping) that someone may just read this who knew him personally :-D

Surely, this is the best you can hope for, as sadly Gerald died nearly 25 years ago.

The only other thing is perhaps buy the certificate & see who registered.

Thanks Zoe. I did, very late last night, find the record of Gerald's death. I think this is the correct person as one of his sister's ended up in the newcastle/sunderland area. Unfortunately, he'd already died by the time my gran had started to tell me about it all.

Lynski, thanks, I will try, but the name Pinder is a very common northern name, so I'm not holding out too much hope!

If anyone else reading this knows anything of Gerald and how he came to be in Sunderland, or in deed anything about his life, I'd be very grateful.

I'm trying to find any info on my great uncle. He was born in Yorks in 1926, so there is every chance that he is no longer alive. His father was John Leonard Pinder, born in Gainsborough Lincs, and his mother Annie Louise Green, born in Rotherham. He was one of 11 children: Susan, Maggie, Ethel, John, Ernest Annie, Doreene, Emma (My grandmother), Gertrude, Gerald, then Joan The family moved around Yorks, starting in Rotherham but ending up in Shipley, W Yorks. He married and had at least 1 son (whose name I think was Stephen). He was the youngest in a family of aroundHe lost touch with his family years and years ago. My grandmother did try and trace him through the Salvation Army, but with no success. I always wanted to try and find him for my grandmother but never had any luck myself.

I'd be grateful for any info relating to him.
