Hi .....yes.... (as suggested) ...the library can help. The 'National Library of NZ' -on-line has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check their MANY records - including electoral rolls - past & present.

than you persie
i would be so sure that would be for all our folk that are in there twilight years
as i did put it into find living relatives .....wishing and praying that they haven't all passed....why because i want to see and talk with them before there journey...i was the oldest of 7 girls and 3 boys..most have passed
my mother married a Maori and all we ever new were Maori cousins i am very proud of my south pacific heritage...but unfortunately we never new our English side of my mothers family and until 5 years ago they just never existed
and all the helpers i have had are just wonderful people ...they have made it possibly for me and my sisters to know them we have meet some just living down the road from us and the talks we have had about them living in our street in papatoetoe...watching over all us kids made me feel very special
and sad that we never got to know them....
so im am the most grateful person you would ever want to meet
i love what you people do and thank you every day im alive.... bless you all!
ps. Persephone i would love to meet you at the Auckland Library tell me when ....

Not sure I understand what you mean by no one in the Pacific doing look ups since the boards have changed

Peterkinz , Annie in NZ and Helen and several others like myself will do our best to help people with NZ enquiries.

Cherilyn, TonyinOZ and a lot of others in Aussie are a wonderful help re Australia.... as far as I know they haven't moved and are still our Pacific neighbours.

Persie

Edit: my father lived to the age of 93 and I am "dead" certain he would have wanted to be known as a living relative until he died.

My suggestion is if you know what area they were living in not just Auckland but a suburb of Auckland... the electoral roll for that area and during that era can be checked to see if any of their children 21years or over were living with them. You had to be 21 to get the vote then so one could check through that lot.

Auckland Library have all the electoral rolls and they may be able to help you on-line or you could visit the library when you are here... I am quite willing to meet up with you and help you at the library.

Then we can check the children's marriages etc and try and trace their children on the microfiche.. some of it can be a long shot... especially with Smith for a surname but if one of the female Smiths has married someone with a less common name the odds of finding someone would be a lot closer.

So yes putting this on Living relatives was a good idea.. and you can pm me if you wish me to help you.

Cheers Persie

I cannot understand why you are asking the poster to start a thread on Find ancestors when it is living relatives they are looking for.
