Hi all,

Looking to contact Janine Land. Janine was born between 1945-1955. Her parents were Stanley Land & Linda Beulah Windle. I believe they lived in Perth from 1947.

How would I search Perth electoral rolls or look for a marriage record for Janine ?.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks
John Windle

John ........ The 'West Aus State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check the electoral rolls - past & present.

John ...the 'National Aus Archives' (on-line) shows parents' immigration 1946 .... (Stanley Harold & Linda Beulah Land) ...to Melbourne. (Stanley b Portsmouth 3/6/1922)

The Perth cemetery site shows mother Linda Beulah Land of Queens Park (suburb of Perth) d 30/8/1980 age 64yrs. (Stanley not on cemetery list).

The 'Ask a Librarian' service may check her mother's (newspaper) death notices ....it may reveal a clue or two of Janine.

Hi Valerie,

I did manage to find the obituary notice for Linda Beulah in 1980 but it only states daughter as Janine.

I also have found the immigration record you mentioned and electoral rolls for 1949 & 1954 but no mention of Janine. Is this because she may not have been born yet or that children do not appear on Electoral rolls ?.

I will check the online ask a Librarian service.

Thanks for all your help,
Regards
John

You didn't remove your e-mail.............please do so

By definition an Electoral Roll lists people who are eligible, and registered to VOTE.......think about it......

Hi John

Australian residents had to be 'of age' to be on electoral rolls ... which would've been 21yrs 'in those days' ....now it's down to only 18yrs.

You could try our 'Immigration Dept' ..... in case Janine left to live overseas (UK/NZ).... (as you've found little mention of her in death notice.) They have up to date records of where we all are ...even on overseas holidays!

We also have a 'State Records Office' .... which the Library usually include in their search - being next door - hopefully they will find something!
