The problem is, the birth certificate you have, is that the ORIGINAL ie issued when he was registered in 1950 ?
If he was adopted the birth entry is altered & any further copies issued have the words ADOPTED on the certificate.

If you purchase his birth certificate, then you know he has a surname change ( if not adopted of course by a Nicholson family member )

Hello all,

I am trying to find my half brother John Nicholson.
He was born on the 30th July 1950 at Sharoe Green Maternity Hospital in Fulwood, Preston. Our Mother's name was Hazel Veronique Kathleen Nicholson (nee Barnes).
We were living at 68 Westcliff, Preston at the time John was born.
I have his birth certificate which is helpful but I am not 100% if he was adopted by a family or put into foster care, I was only five at the time and do not remember very much and my Mother would never talk about it. So my next step will be to find out if he was adopted but in the mean time I am just checking to see if there may be anyone on GR who may know anything.
