HI,I AM CLAIRE ELLIOTT,I AM LOOKING FOR MY FATHER JOHN ELLIOTT AND ANY RELATIVES THAT I MAY HAVE,HE MARRIED MY MOTHER JANICE MOORE 1979 AT Wath UponDearne South Yorkshire And I was born in 1980 in December,I have no leads and just hope someone may be able to help me start th ball rolling,They livedat South Drive fr a period which is in Bolton on Derne THANKS HOPE SOMEONE GENUINE RESPONDS ;-)

Claire it is important to know as much as you can about your father to look for him ... although putting too many personal details here is not allowed

if you don't know his birthday, your parents' marriage certificate will tell you important information

his age
his father's name

is your mother living and are you in touch with her, and can she give you more information about him ?

if you have enough information to identify his birth in the index then it will tell you his own mother's surname and where he was born

with that information you can search for other children of the same couple ( that is, with the same parents' surnames ) ... his brothers and sisters if he had any

if you could locate a brother or sister of your father they might be in touch with him

there were no John Elliott births in Rotherham district 1951 to 1961 just for example


you could tell us here what information you have, for instance do you know his birthdate, do you know his parents' names ... don't tell us what they are because that would invade people's privacy, just let us know what you do know, so we know how we could help you find more


I don't know what you mean by 'someone genuine' ........ the only people ever likely to see and reply to your message are other paying members of this website ( like Fairthorn and me ) who help out when someone is looking for a family member ...

Just goes to show you cant be too careful.

for years google did not cache copies of pages at this site ... it now does so within no more than an hour or two of posting

so yes, caution is essential

I think what Claire has posted so far is within reason, if she reads her replies she will be able to tell us what help she needs finding info that is available that could help


one other thing that could help is to know whether your parents divorced, Claire ... that would indicate whether your father may have remarried
