"Joy", you are right, I did direct Bethan to the 'genealogy chat' board! and Bethan stayed around to read her replies, it is always nice when people do that ! :-)

"Chrissie", I doubt that Bethan minded being directed to the genealogy chat board.

Bethan, happy hunting :-)

Thank you for all that , i am still quite new to all this so learning each day lol
The main name I am looking for is a Kathleen White who was from ireland and came across to cardiff in 1949 however travelled back to ireland aroun 1950 exact dates i no longer hold sadly .
Other names are for relatives of mary o'callaghan who was born in 1914 believe in waterford and had a brother called frances who was younger and thier mum died age 29 afew days after frank's birth I am unsure of his birth date There were afew other siblings but sadly I was too young when they were mentioned.
Sorry about being vague but this is all i have

I always think it is so much better to give people links ... especially now they are clickable ... since who knows when a person will come back to look for 'nudge' threads

now that you have nudged them :-)

Bethan, there are some helpful threads on Irish research in the genealogy chat board. I shall bring them forward for you.

since you have not given the names you are searching for this is more of a 'genealogy chat' ( advice ) post than a 'living relatives' search

however it really comes down to specific names since it is difficult to help with such general questions anyway

we don't know what you are looking for ... births ? marriages ? deaths ? living people ?

would any of your people be on the 1911 Irish census ?

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

I believe familysearch has Irish events up to ... 1920 ?

Hi all I have been searching many areas of my tree where relatives have either come from or traveled to ireland ( different parts of family came over where other parts left to go there) Sadly the relatives that knew the latest information have passed away and due to not finding any details left behind I was wondering what is the best way to serach ?
the relatives surnames are white and o'callaghan which i know are quite common in ireland lol :-)
Has anyone else been able to get details from ireland ?
Really time would be from 1912 to up to date .
Any suggestions would be fab thank you
