Thankyou Bob, I've been away and just found your postings. I'm finding out that there are indeed many Bowes-oh well!

Have a look on Durham County Registrars website . BmD,s on there All certificates are handled for all of Durham by Bishop Auckland Registry office. Bishop Auckland. Co: Durham. The staff are very family history friendly lots of luck Bob B.

I'm sure the birth Flick sent would be the right one going from the marriage for a Cecil Bowes

this seems to be his death ?

Name: Cecil Bowes
Birth Date: 12 Sep 1925
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1974
Age at Death: 49
Registration district: Durham Northern
Inferred County: Durham, Tyne and Wear
Volume: 1
Page: 1483

she was young at that time but not likely to have taken a stepfather's surname ...

there is a possible remarriage for her mother in 1977

I will send that info privately

I have sent current contact info for the former spouse of the person Grace seems to have been residing with several years ago, from an old electoral roll at 192.com

Grace's mother may be on the current E R but I can't find contact info to match ...... it could be worth paying to access that information at 192.com if no one here currently subscribes for current electoral roll listings ( I sent the info showing the town and other occupant but that is all )

Yes, I've tried Facebook thanks. I'll try the trees ago, although I've had no luck so far. I was adopted as a baby and the Bowes seem to be a most reclusive lot as far as researching their history-I traced my half sister but she lost contact with the family early on!
Thanks for your help,
Anne

Hi,
I wonder if somebody could kindly help me to find my cousin, who I believe is still alive. She is the daughter of Cecil Bowes from South Moor, Co. Durham and was born around 1960 I think. I am trying to find out if she married and what her name is now. Our grand parents were Annie Bowes(nee Goldsborough) and William Goldsborough. They had 3 other children besides Cecil-Dennis, John and Audrey.
Thankyou!
Anne Woodford
