I am trying to trace an Ann Starforth who I think was the daughter of George Munro Sturrock and Leslie Louisa Cartwright Wood. They were married on 31/7/1935 in Bombay. George, (son of a great uncle of mine) died 19/5/1991 in Stanmore and Leslie died the first quarter on 1966 in London. I think Geporge may have remarried - an Audrey Mary Ham who died Hillingdon, London in 1973. I don't know if there were anymore children apart from Ann, but I have just found out she was born in Calcutta on 1/11/1936.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Why was her name Starforth?

do you mean that was her surname after marriage ?

a member has this person in their family tree

William Sturrock 1924 India

and there are some later Sturrock births in India, could be related ?

do you know whether the family returned to England together, that is, did or does Ann live in England ?

There are Sturrock-Wood births in

Kensington 1937
Staines 1942 to 1950

are these siblings of Ann? if so the names are quite distinctive and it should not be difficult to trace them ... there is no other Sturrock-Wood marriage in England / Wales to account for them ...

just search for births with surname Sturrock and mother's name Wood

on a quick search these must be siblings ... one married in the same place the second wife of George died, very close in time

Thanks very much! Starforth was wrong - my mistake (another branch of the family)! It's amazing what someone else can come up with!

........................ proofreading ......................... saves other people a lot of time spent searching for something that does not exist

I did also spend a fair bit of time trying to track down those distinctively named siblings ....... but with very little luck

some seem to have adopted middle names, for instance the siblng whose name starts with T married in 1967 and is recorded twice, with and without a middle initial, and also with the given name spelt slightly differently

I could not identify them on the electoral roll, for instance

but at least you will now have a list of names and birthdates to use for future searches !
