Thanks Liz,
Very sad to have missed contact with Isobel, & just my luck the phone lines are congested or something so can't get a call through to her daughter either. Sat up all night to try, so looks like I'll have no sleep again tomorrow.
Regards, Vicki.

Many thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
I have learned that Isobel passed away late last year.
On a happier note, I hope to be in contact with her daughter soon.

Portsmouth daily newspaper is The News.
That frequently has a column called 'Where Are They Now ?'
If you don't get a response from your letter, you could try e mailing the paper with a brief description of the person you are trying to locate.

The letter will be displayed as soon as they have room to print it.

Flick,
Have searched GR trees without success, thanks for looking at the deaths.
Liz,
Didn't know about 192.com but will look now. I haven't written as yet, only received the death cert in the mail last night, but will write Monday. Thanks for the suggestion.
Keeley & Fred,
Many thanks for your messages.

Have you tried 192.com - have you tried writing to the address Isobel gave on the death cert., if she has moved, the new occupants may know where she went to live.

I'm searching for any family, connections, or information about Isobel Catherine BIRCH nee KATARIYA or KAYE b. 1927 Glasgow. Daughter of Isabella Stevens BAILLIE 1905-1941, niece of Jane Rintoul BAILLIE 1899-1994.
Isabella & Jane were daughters of Robert Gardner BAILLIE & Catherine Binnie REID (sister of my Gt Grandfather) both born at Firhill Rd, Glasgow.
Jane was a retired legal secretary when she died at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, Hampshire in 1994. Her usual address was Southsea, Hampshire.
The informant on her death certificate was her niece, Isobel Catherine BIRCH of Southsea.
I believe Isobel's mother must be Isabella Stevens BAILLIE who married Bhoja Ram KATARIYA or KATARYA, engineering student, at Govan, Glasgow in Dec 1926. Isabella died Glasgow, in 1941 as Isabella Stevens KAYE wife of John KAYE, civil engineer. Her sister Jane was the informant. Perhaps her husband had changed his name from KATARIYA to KAYE, I don't know.
Isobel Catherine KATARIYA was born in Glasgow 1927. I haven't found her marriage to BIRCH as yet. Hoping to find Isobel Catherine BIRCH alive & well aged 84 years.
Any help will be much appreciated.
