Hi There,
I wonder if you can help.
I am building a family tree for my children, but I have very little information about my fathers side and I wondered if by chance you may be able to help.
I am looking for a family of 'Russell' who were originally from Ireland but moved and settled in Manchester - Maybe the Barton area. I know that the Father (my Grandfather was called Michael and we believe that the mother (my Grandmother) may have been called Christina (Diane). There were several children, we believe there was Anthony born around 1944 possibly give or take a couple of years, Michael , possibly a Martin and maybe other brother and sisters too. I would be delighted to make contact with any of the family who may be alive,

I would be very grateful if you could help at all
Kind Regards Mark

You should start with either your Father's birth certificate, or your parents' marriage certificate, and work back from there with known facts.

Has your Father died, and, if so, when?
Also, is his name also Michael?
Thanks

Do you or your siblings know when his birthday was (Month?), or do you have no recollections of when?
Do you know if your grandparents married in this country, or in Ireland?
Thanks

Mark

Hi Pat

I never met any of them so I am not sure. I do not know if my grandparents were married here or in Ireland. I was just told that they were very religious catholics.

thanks Mark

Hi Mark,
Was reading your post & thought how bizzarely similar to my story. Here goes.
I'm looking for the birth mother of my husband Bob. He was born in Dec 1966,(he's 45 now) he was named Michael Russell & his birth was registered in the Barton, Urmstom, Manchester. He was adopted in May 1967.
From what we have been told was that his birth mother was in the Navy & Bob was a love child to a married guy.
Just so many things that you said sounded so uncanny.
WE're not talking about the same family, are we?
Look forward to hearing from you, Jane
