Funny you should say that Colin, Colleen HAS applied for grad school (Masters in Applied Disabilities) but still awaiting response re acceptance into the programme. That will be 3 years involving only one intense weekend a month, so should be manageable. The last 4 years have been exhausting.
Now I'm off to get my stitches dug out . . . have a good day all.

A very good evening to all my old friends and to all those posters whom I have never spoken to, yet!.
I have been awaiting for Deanna to surface, if only for a short time , to lay claim to the 8000 postings...to those that don't know me D and I always fought over who would reach 'the' milestone first....I gold a gold star for reaching the fantastic posting for '2000' and if I remember rightly D pipped me to '3000'........somewhere along the way I have missed on many milestones......so sorry folks.....
AND if I don't press the button for submit I will lose the battle this time around....take care all and I will post tomorrow, I promise....lu my Caz.....

Goodness me, hello Joyce, lovely to see you posting and don't worry about Deanna, she is too comfy in her new blue throne!!!

Nice to see Ann of Green Gables posting more again, hope you are ok Ann.

Fed up with the cold weather, so not sticking around long in this cold room where the computer is set up,

take care all, and if I owe you a pm reply, apologies, will do them late on Wednesday

Deanna Report 5 May 2010 17:47

HELLO MY LOVELY PAL JOYCE....
how is yah? Miss you on here , but I have not been on much myself lately... a dullness came over me.
I am better now though and it took a really good book to do it.
As you know I read all the time, but this one is different.
*HOUSE RULES* by
Jodi Picoult....( is that how you spell it?) you just HAVE to read it folks.
Really lovely to hear from you Joyce, and who in fact did make the last 'round' thousand message? ;-0).... just as long as it wasn't you! ;-P

Liz you are quite right, my new blue throne is a big 'love' in my life... and reading is again a pleasure. Although my new book which I bought through AMAZON is a hard back and I can barely lift it with my bad right hand, my new throne helps me to sit back and rest it on my .... stomach, a huge area. ;-0)

Mary... that was a lovely thing your daughter said of you.
You must be so proud of her, clever girl. The biggest pride any of us have is the pride we have in our children, bless them all.

Talking of children, my Lisa came down this afternoon with a present for us..... her first 'scan' of her second baby. She is so excited. they know it is another boy and they are so pleased. If he brings only HALF the joy that Lewis (2 next month) has brought us all he will be a gift indeed.

Ah well , gotta go now... it hurts if I am away from my book too long... ha ha ha

Ann, I have asked the members to help me look for him, but as much work as they have all kindly put in for me, they get the same results as I have had.
CORNELIYS KELLY in Ireland in the 19th century is as bad as looking for a JOHN SMITH in England, in any century. ;-0)

Well folks see you all soon again.
You all know that I will be back, but I am not on everyday. I feel so bad when I don't come on but I do think of you all often.
The warm weather will be here soon and I will be able to sit here again.
Love to all of you and look after yourselves.
Deanna XXXXX

Justice of Peace Report 6 May 2010 05:58

Well folks 'they' do say tomorrow never comes and in my case it certainly applied as far as my promised posting to you yesterday which never took place, sorry..
T'was the usual story of getting caught up in having to have fasting blood tests, unexpected visitors arriving then, horrors of horrors to find some despicable waster had been helping themselves to money from my bank account!...not a lot but I had to go through the usual exercise of putting a stop on my account, etc....t'is not too bad if one can visit one's local branch but mine happens to be in a scottish bank near Glasgow and I live in Essex...so it was a case of initially 'talking' to buttons on my telephone pad before reaching a human being.... it now means I cannot spend any pennies until my new card arrives but then who needs money!!! ME...ha ha....
Well it worked as I knew it would, my wee bonnie lassie did take my bait and took time out from her so comfortable reclining throne to greet me back into the fold....and with the lovely news of Lisa expecting her second baby, marvellous....can I suggest Deanna that maybe any novels you have lined up to read be replaced by knitting patterns, there are some lovely baby garments just waiting to be worked on and who better than you to produce the best....who loves you baby, ME, lol..... seriously lass it was nice to read that you had not lost your sense of humour, keep up the good work xxxx
The major health problem I have is still a blight on my life, not a lot I can do about it though..but I did have a lot of choice in January this year when a nurse at our practice told me quite casually that I would die if I did not have insulin injections?. She then went on to ask me what had I done in October2008? to cause high blood sugar levels...needless to say I hit the roof at not being given this information then and acting upon it....I walked out of surgery, came home, researched over the weekend and found a brilliant forum which guided me through diets and gives me all the help I need. I am now on a low carb and sugar free diet, blood sugar levels have dropped to 5.2, IBS has totally disappeared and I have lost one and a half stone.....I have a paper prepared to present to my own doctor and the practice has many questions to answer.......I will now climb down from my soap box.....
I cannot let this posting end without mentioning 'Toby', who is my soul mate, he is very active and still walks me through the undergrowth but has learnt not to pull so much now, thank goodness...he is so very timid though, scared of spider and ants, noises and even his own shadow but that comes from his past history and his cruel owner.....he has gone on many holidays to Coventry and runs with the horses, he even lines up when the farrier or vet arrives and expects attention, bless him....
To you my very own Caz I send all my love and pray that life is being kind to you lass, I miss our 'tumbling' acts which we played out frequently and which was great fun, lu xxxxx
Right folks, it had been my intention to retire back to bed after penning a few lines to you but as per usual I got carried away....and I have not even started yet.....how about tomorrow though for more news from me....I had mini plants delivered Tuesday which need re-potting and I feel in the mood to get started and what better time than now, well that's after I get washed and dressed of course...... take very good care everybody and if possible, have a good day......see you soon.....
Love...Joyce xx

Joyce, I have just typed out a long reply to you and, because I am on wireless here in Tenerife and it is quite a weak signal for some reason I lost the lot.

I am please that Toby is till taking you for walks and keeping you occupied. Have a lovely vision of him lined up with the horses waiting his turn with the vet!
Do you mean that in 2008 the surgery didn't tell you that there was a a problem with your blood sugar? That is terrible but I am pleased that you have managed to get it under control yourself.
Also pleased that you found out about the low life syphoning off your money before he took too much, at least you have stopped him now, did the bank notify you? They seem to be quite good at that these days.
Anyway it is really good to hear your news, do please stay in touch with us.

How nice to see our old friends posting here! (((xxx))). Joyce sorry to hear some no mark has taken money from your bank account. How did I miss that 8000 mile stone? I've been so busy. Cleared some more of aunties stuff today. We had house clearance in today, so house is empty all but a couple of pieces of furniture. Still have the yard to clear. My uncle ( her brother) is going to tell aunt tomorrow that her house is cleared, not looking forward to that! I'm sure aunt will be sad.

Just sat down! Been ironing, and I hate that!! Have a busy day tomorrow so must get some shut eye xxx

Greetings from an incredibly cold (for May) Ontario. We've had some gorgeous days and now a huge cold front has moved in and the wind is estimated at 100Km/hr. My huge maple tree in the back garden is waving from side to side, I've been trying to estimate which part of the house would be hit if it blows over!!!!
In my wisdom I bought some tomato plants on Thursday, it was sunny and warm. By the evening it was too chilly to plant so they are hiding in a box under a table outside. I wanted some of the 'heritage tomatoes', last year grew my own from seed, not very successfully, this year (if they're not blown away) I should have a wonderful variety of various colours. The heritage varieties are so much tastier than the modern ones, more fleshy and so attractive when served either cooked or raw, we'll (hopefully) have little red ,black and yellow ones, large red ones, and some pink , purple, striped green and red medium size. Farmer Mary is ready to roll.
My retirement luncheon was held on Wednesday, in a restaurant room right by Lake Ontario, beautiful view, very appropriate for me who loves water. I was given a lovely silver chain with an "entwined hearts" pendant, and a gift card for a book store. They know me well. I was floored that over 50 people attended, such a compliment, and I had hugs from almost every one. The pendant was purchased from a jeweller who donates a portion of each item sold from that set, to 'Autism Speaks", again so appropriate, I nearly wept when I read that - as speech is what I pray for, for Sarah. All in all it was a lovely time, albeit belated, but touched me deeply.
MiniMary had her last baton twirling competition today, cheerful that they weren't last, upset that she dropped the baton once, but so did another teammate, and a third girl dropped hers THREE times. As there are only 4 on the team, they were just glad they weren't last!!
Emlyn is away today at a dance competition with her Mummy, I will be so glad when these competitions every weekend, are finished, the rest of us find the days long, esp today when we can't go out in case we are blown over!!
So glad to see Joyce and Toby back, we've missed you.
And Deanna, I really enjoy any books I've read by Jodi Picoult also, haven't got any right now as I keep passing them one when I've read them.
Have a safe weekend all, tomorrow is Mother's Day here, perhaps I'll bake a cake.
Hugs,Mary

Hello everyone, I am so, so sorry to be so rude in not posting, but I think of you all every day. I have so many problems healthwise that I can't cope with it any more. My day is taken up by taking tablets and making sure I take them in the right order, got some more from doc at hospital on Wednesday taking it to 32 a day plus the anti-sickness when needed.
You might like to know oncologist is really pleased with me,my cancer count is normal now, but that is the least of my worries, I'm not bothered about cancer. It's the pain I can't do with, nurse want's to up my morphine but the new pain down my hip and thigh, not sciatica, that's the other leg, doesn't respond to morphine.

It was my big sis Joyce who gave me the courage to do this . Sorry Joyce, I have picked the phone up a few times but ended up crying at the thought of having to talk, even to you. I will pm you.
Deanna gave me a hint of what one of my problems could be, thinking about it Deanna you could be right as I hate the phone unless I know it is my two friends on here.
Sorry folk but that's all I can do.
Thinking about you all every day, but never been as bad as this.don't know whether I can respond to any messages on here.

Love and hugs to all

Very warm and very gentle hugs Caz, if you are still looking in.
It's easy to say "be brave" but that is not helpful and it seems that there is nothing I can do for you except think about you.
You have overcome enormous pain and sorrow and I think that is real bravery.
