Carole, I always get very sad at the end of a holiday and hate coming back, it's knowing I probably might never see that place again I suppose. I don't find two weeks long enough - how I wish I had enough money to go and live in these places for a few months, to really get to know how the local people live their lives and really get to know the different countries etc.

Hope your journey is smooth and uneventful and that you have had a good time

Love
Lizxx

Sydneybloke Report 16 Oct 2009 06:10

Hello Liz and Carole,
I also find myself becoming sad after a holiday. I don't think that it is just the length, although holidays can be very tiring with a continuous state of excitement that has to be paid for somehow.
My longest holidays were to the U.K. for five plus weeks including a side trip on a coach tour to Europe. It was very tiring and I began to get depressed about Venice, about two weeks before I was due to fly home. Didn't enjoy Amsterdam at all, but would love to go back. All this was over 20 years ago and I've never been back to UK/Europe. I had three weeks in Hong Kong about 15 years ago which I thoroughly enjoyed, and didn't really get depressed when I got back. However, I did get homesick in the last couple of days. I saw a tram with a big advertising sign for Qantas and I think that did it.
Hello Deanna, nice to see you there, also Eileen. With your Irish sign on name I originally did not realise that you were in Holland.
Also, best wishes to Mary, Hazel (both or all three of you), Joyce and anyone I have forgotten.

We went away for three weeks a few years ago.First week I was just wanting to be at home,I don't much like being away, second week was good, third week wanting to see rain desperately and trying not to think about the flight home.I am not afraid of flying but I just don't like it,would rather be somewhere else.

To think one of the Krays died here in Norwich not so long back.

When I was working in market research I interviewed a cousin of the Krays.Yes he really was,in fact I looked him up on Ancestry recently just to see if he was one of the many thousands who will claim to have been part of the gang or family.

He is a quiet, self effacing man who would rather keep out of trouble but,of course, having them as cousins,it always came to him.

I liked him.

Hi everyone,
No Ben... You did not worry me about your connection to the Krays.
I'm sure there must be SOMBODY in my tree that I can threaten you with.....ha ha ha
Hi Colin, Liz, Mary, Eileen.... You don't need to tell me anything. If talking to me helps in anyway, I'm happy.
Liz, sorry I did not phone, but will.....EVENTUALLY! ;-0)
Gotta go for my yoghurt now before Allan eats it!

Hi everyone just popped on here for awhile.

I am going to my fried for a week on Saturday, to help her pack all her ex boyfriend and his sons things to get rid of them if they dont come back to get them.

They have been right B's to her, with her ending up being arrested the other day and in a cell for almost 4 hrs.

They were very unkind to her when she was having cemo for breast cancer. Taking the micky out of her when she losted all her hair. made her cook dinner when she had had the cemo that day.

So hope all be ok for her now.

Hazel, take care, hope those horrible people don't cause your friend any more upset. She should be careful about disposing of their things tho, it could get her into trouble, better if she can get one of their relatives to pick the stuff up or take it to a solicitor who knows them or similar. Or she should get a solicitor to write to them telling where the things are and that she will only be holding them for x amount of time before disposing of them. Might be an idea for her to ask the police or her solicitor if she has one, to advise her the best way to deal with the situation.
Not that they deserve consideration, just wouldn't want to see her in any further trouble over the pair of idiots.

Hi Claire, hope all is well with you. Liverpool seems so long ago, can't believe how fast this summer has gone by.

Hi everyone. Welcome back Carole ::}}}}

Having great fun with grandson and daughter and her OH staying for awhile.

We have been having some problems with a new neighbour for some time, will fill you in a bit more later, but she is driving me nuts. I feel like I cannot go outside any more unless she corners me. They are renting only. Nothing wrong with that, but she reconds our boundary fence is wrong, we have too much land that does not belong to us etc etc. It was surveyed when we brought the place. We are out 4 feet on one side of another neighbours as the house is the boundary and let them have the land as easier than them asking permission every time they need to do something to their home. I feel really unable to enjoy my home any more due to her constant annoyance. OH told this person off this morning for being too nosey and she was at it again after he went to work. Now she is doing the same to daughter and her OH. It is difficult to explain, she is very intrusive and knows everything. I do not like being rude, but even when I am she takes no notice, that is when you can get a word in. The only thing is the husband is lovely and I suppose we could get worse neighbours. I have also found out that they moved there as they had heard how good we were to our last neighbour, and looked after her. I have been told she expects us to look after her as we did our other neighbour. I loved our last neighbour as a mother/grandmother, nobody could replace her, she was a treasure.

Any one with ideas as to handling this?

Love and hugs

Gail

Introduce her to your brother!

You must refer her back to the owner of the house about the boundary. It is a matter between them and you and no concern of hers, like the tenancy is between them and her and no concern of yours.

I think, once we have grown up with a narcissist we are like a magnet to all the others, and every other difficult old goat in the area!

Hello everyone,

It is a beautiful day so far, should be raining, according to the forcaste.

I see you are back from your holiday in Florida Carole, hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourself?

Colin, I have been living in Holland since 1962, when I was 18. Far too long!!!!

My youngest phoned earlier to say her son Floris, broke his leg on sunday! Poor wee mite, he is not allowed to walk on it for 6 weeks, when it will be examind again to see if he needs surgery. It was a freak accident, he must have twisted it when walking, he didn't fall from a height etc. They had been enjoying a day out at the beach, together with a friend of my daughter and her dog, when this happened.Floris had been playing up, crying a lot, kept lagging behind, only after they got to hospital did they find out that he had a high fever too....it never just rains, does it?He is forever picking up bugs, often has a high temperature....
She was going to phone me yesterday evening, but thought better of it, knowing I would not sleep at all, so waited until this morning.

It is going to be very difficult to keep him from trying to walk when he recovers from the latest bug.......

Must go out to buy a few things for him.

Take care.

Hazel, how awful for your friend.
What kind of man is he that he can treat her or anyone like that?
Bless her, I hope all goes well for her, and that she is now well rid of the two idiots living with her.
I am sitting here waiting for my new washing machine to arrive. The phoned to tell me that it would come between 7.00 and 7.00.....how helpful is that?

I am freezing today.... what did you say?.... She is ALWAYS FREEZING!
And your point is??? ha ha ha
Allan has gone down for some fish and chips. We can't start anything in the kitchen, because as sure as 'eggs is eggs' the machine will come the minute we start to cook!

Well, it is nice to see you all back, I don't feel so lonely now, but you all seem to need a hug today.... SO.
((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs for all)))))))))))))))))))

Will see you all later.

Eileen, sorry about Floris's leg, poor lad, how old is he. Difficult to keep off it for that length of time though, no matter what age.

Hazel, hope your friend gets sorted out re the ex's stuff, sounds like she is well rid of him.

Gail, strange woman. I should let her know (well make it up!!) that you are often poorly and in need of TLC from a friendly neighbour!

Carole welcome back, hope you had a lovely time.

Deanna, hope the washing machine turned up and that you were able to enjoy your fish and chips in peace!
