Annie, I too love my bare feet.
As a child I loved walking about in bare feet and my mother was always telling me off.... you'll get 'god knows what in your feet'!
All I ever got, was comfort.
Then when I met Allan , I used to walk about bare footed, and he told me off because ... 'people will think I don't give you money for shoes!'

The thing is I love shoes.
I used to have so many.... all cheap, I must add.
Quantity not quality for me.

NOW... my feet are so bad I have to wear 'COSIFEET' .... and they are anything but fashionable. Sometimes they are not even comfortable.... bare feet win every time, except that now I am not well enough to be walking around bare footed.
I had to have a pair of shoes made for me once....£200.... I keep them as a reminder although I would be happy to give them to anyone who needs them.
I was on a high dose of STEROIDS and even my feet swelled up... it was unbelievable.
I had a pair made for me on the NHS and they were a joke. I refused to take them, but have wished ever since that I had taken a photograph of them... they were an insult.

My feet went down again as my tablets were reduced.
Now my feet are just misshapen with arthritis... ain't life fun, fun, fun??

It is SO cold for September, don't you agree?
It is cold whether you agree with me or not... so there.

I am going to shut down for the night I think.
It is cold, and I cannot put the heating on for long periods as Allan can't stand it with his lungs. I can always sit with a blanket over me, which I do sometimes.
Come the winter and the REAL COLD, then I will have the heating on.

How are you all? I have not been spending much time on here so am missing you all.
Once I have answered my mail, and perhaps had a look around, my legs are SO cold I have to go.

I hope you are all as well as can be expected... as the hospitals say, and I will be back when I feel warm enough to sit here again. brrrrrr ;-0)

Hi all,

Went and put some flowers down for mum yesterday where she was born,

On way had a full hurt all my left side, my hip is killing me today the most.

Then went to LMA rest of the day, late afternoon had the fire alams go off and all had to wait outside in the pouring rain so got very wet.

Didnt find what i was looking for. So be back down there next week i hope.

Deanna, I went on the steroids gig a few years ago, for a very severe allergic reactions, everything swelled up, it was horrible for some time, until the doctors found the cause of the allergens and now avoid these things and only take antihistamines now. I looked like the Michelin Man for a few months though. I used to wear thongs on my feet for work. I do not know how many times I got caught out from kicking my shoes off under the desk and forgetting that I had taken them off. Not very professional though.

Snakes, well in a way you do get used to them, I grew up with them around. You need a very healthy respect for them and be able to run fast. If you cannot run fast, well get some knee hi gum boots, which I will have to do when shopping this Saturday.

Very warm here for this time of year, unseasonal, so probably in for a very hot dry summer.

I just wanted to say hello to you all, and hope you are as well as can be. Have you got over your flu yet Gail? It must be that you are run down from the last time.
Well, the results from my scans were better than I thought so I can relax now for another three month. Trouble is it will take nearly that long for my back to recover from the scan beds. I think being laid flat has disturbed the slipped disc that is pressing on my sciatic nerve, having awful trouble with it at the moment.
My sister has been today, I haven't seen her for over six weeks and it was lovely to catch up face to face instead of on phone.

By the way Gail I can't wear shoes either, I have to wear woolly socks in the flat as I can't be sure I am standing on the floor in shoes. Sounds silly I know but at least with socks I know I can't be anything else but flat on the floor, doctor caught me with bare feet one day and played pop with me, she said if I stood on anything I wouldn't know and would end up in trouble, suppose she is right.

Didn't mean to do all this so will leave you now, as you know I can't remember all the names so will just say....

Dad's brother died this morning,his little brother who was only eighty-eight. It is particularly worrying as they were a bit like the Kray twins.They were not twins,there was a thirteen month gap between them but they needed each other.Bill spent yesterday rambling about his brother,not his wife or daughters.

That is the last of my uncles and I once boasted three Uncle Bills to my name.There is one aunt left,my mother's older sister who is ninety and smokes like a chimney.

Doesn't life have a way of telling you that you are rubbing along a bit?

Sharron, my sympathy on the loss of your Uncle - hope it doesn't upset your Dad too much. May your uncle rest in peace.

I wear flipflops (thongs to you Gail lol) all summer but in winter go into boots and socks, altho not indoors. I can't walk about barefoot here as o.h. is always dropping things that could hurt, he doesn't think that the staple that he managed to pull out of the tv mag could end up stuck in my foot, so I wear slippers. There is always a draught from his patio doors that whips round my feet and ankles so last year I found some lovely soft boots with flat thin soles and fluffy fleecy lining and cuff that can be turned up or down, they were ins Bhs and reduced to about £15, and I wear them when I am sitting around in the evenings when it's cold, my feet and ankles are so toasty and warm, it's lovely. They are in a nice soft grey colour and I could wear them outside if the weather was dry, but I am saving them for indoors as I have enough leather boots etc

Better get to bed, things to do later today and meeting my son to bring him round here so I can show him what plants need what care while we are away, he will come round a few times and check all is well and water the plants and pick up mail from inside the door so people can't see through the glass that it is piling up. He will have to come on the bus tho as he doesn't have his scooter license any more.

Thank you to everybody for the condolences.The old man is being stoical,as he always is.Will only reveal the emotions he chooses to.

Will have to keep him busy for the next few days,not that he isn't working his socks off anyway.

Apart from the war the two brothers had never lived more than a mile apart.They didn't actually see much of each other but the other was always there.I think maybe my dad was more important to Bill than Bill was to him.

Hi all. Sorry I havent been around but we had to sort out my uncles funeral and a few other things.

I have just had a huge roaring genealogy success. Do you think I have the mystery solved as well?

My 3xgreat grandfather was William Thomas Coombs son of George and Sarah Coombs a coachman bap at St James Westminster, London on 4th March 1830.

In 1835 their eldest son Matthew George Coombs born 1813 got married and two of the witnesses was James and Sarah Bradford.

A Sarah Bradford is on the 1841 census in 11 Carburton Street, Marylebone with a son with matching name and age to William Coombs. No James anywhere.

Sarah also witnessed Matthew Coombs second wedding and registered his first wife's 1845 and his sons 1839 deaths. She gave her address on the death certs of his wife and child as 11 Carburton Street which ties in with the 1841 census.

Sarah was born about 1791 according to her 1851 death cert. She died in February that year.

A great stroke of luck came just now on the new A******y London Marriages and Banns. A James Bradford, widower and Sarah Coombs, widow had their banns called on the 14, 21 and 27th July 1834 at St Mary, St Marylebone, London. I cannot believe my luck.

I think I have finally solved the mystery wouldn't you?

Only one snag. I cannot find proof of the actual marriage but the banns yes.

Ben, I have been lucky enough to have found the marriages for FIVE of mine on the new Ancestry London Marriages and Bans. Was so excited trawling through them that was not on this site.

I would guess that yours married the following week, so at least the banns have given you something to go on. Perhaps the marriage was miss-transcribed and is waiting for you to find it.

Off to now try and find some much needed Christenings/Baptisms

My Dad is suposed to come out of hospital tomorrow. Looking like he has been in a war!

I fell over this morning dragging the wheelie bin down the drive very sore knees and hand, But I was a big girl and didn't cry!

Ben, sounds like you have cracked it with that find.

I was stung by a bee about 20 minutes ago and it hurts. I went out to check our rain gauge as a storm go through and the rotten thing got me in the dark. They usually do not bother me when I am stung, but this time the pain was awful, so I went looking for the culprit and it was black, not a bit of yellow on it. Eventually I found in in my trouser leg. It got me on the back of the ankle. Ouch!!!!!
