Hi

I have just found another great family tree finding and another ancestor who wed in London.

My great, great grandmother was Martha Caroline Quilter born in 1839 in Leigh On Sea, Essex. Daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Quilter.

She married Henry Stock in Leigh On Sea in 1866. She was a widow. Her first husband was George Samuel Ferguson born 1835 in Leigh. Caroline is on the 1861 census in Leigh with her parents Natha and Elizabeth, a widow. George died in late 1860.

Just out of curiosity I searched for her first marriage today and a Caroline Martha Quilter married in the Sep Quarter of 1858 in St George In The East district in London. On the same marriage page was a George Samuel Ferguson. I have now promptly sent off for the cert. I wonder why they wed in London?

George Ferguson was born in 1833 son of John and Mary Ferguson nee Moss in Essex. He was baptised George Samuel Ferguson.

Sorry to hear your sad news Hazel, it does always seem as if the good people are taken from us first doesn't it?

Hi all,

just a quick reply before I go to bed.
Ben, what a comedy that wedding was, and that poor women who made the cake must be spitting feathers, I would want to tell the groom where to stick his ruby earrings lol Still it makes for interesting family history, you must copy all your posts and put in a book for future generations to see the stories old and new.

Mary, your wedding certainly was interesting too - as you say, doomed from the start really lol

Glad Mary is so tidy with her sewing, and I hope you will soon sell lots of the bags to make more money for the dogs. Tell Mary I wish I was nearer and I would come and help her sew some, it must be like prison sewing mail bags lol

Deanna, don't worry, I am not losing sleep over the strop, just me staying up out of his way cos if I get too close I might accidentally do him a mischief lol Maybe this sore knee is his punishment for behaving like a plonker lol

Colin, what a shame you missed the concert, you must write everything down in big letters and check your calendar every day. I have to or I would forget stuff.

Sharron, you crack me up with the names for your Dad lol For some reason that last name reminded me of that Benidorm programme lol with her on her electric scooter etc.

Hazel, I am sorry about your cousin's husband, and hope he will rest in peace. Shame you didn't get even your bag back with the special things in. I bet you were careful with that key when you were at Kew.

Gail, hi my friend, have been thinking about you - I have the clover you sent me as a bookmark and it reminds me of you every time I have a little read.

To all my pals, take care, catch up with you soon

love
Lizxxxxx

Home at 1230 am tonight, a very busy evening, kept me running. My son is coming home tomorrow night for 24 hours. Our old corgi, whom he loves, is not well and me thinks we'll not have her much longer, so he's coming home to see her, and to see us as an afterthought LOL.
Another busy day tomorrow, why are the busy mornings always on days I have to work????? Sarah and I are going to bake in the morning, been given a pile of fruit tonight so blueberry muffins are on the list.
Just checking in, 'night all.

I have been peeking in and out of here all day. I am just so stunned to hear about our Caz.

Just to let Caz know how much we care about you.

I love my 4 leaf clovers as well. Spotted several in the yard today just opening up, so should be just right for picking and pressing tomorrow. Anyone wants some just PM me your address and when I have them ready will send them off. Going to put cardboard or coloured paper behind them this time before laminating them as should go through easier.

Love and hugs to all, special ones for Caz

Oh Hazel, so sorry to hear about your cousin's husband.
Also, not nice for Caz in Yorkshire, she has suffered a lot and was so happy to be moving into her own flat earlier this year.
Gail has explained Dimbools a lot better than I could. I don't think the people of the town were amused at being taken in vain, but I saw it with some people I knew then as a music hall theatrical. I thought it had every bad wedding cliche in the book, but the iced wooded cake really takes the cake. Sorry for giggling.
Ben, glad you are still finding ancestors. I haven't found any for a while, but am getting certificates to fill in some gaps.
I like "buy one get one free" The subversive Jasper Fforde in his series "The Eyre Affair" had an evil conglomerate offering three grand pianos for the price of two. Just what every house needs.I had heard B-- off on TV (we get a lot of British TV on our ABC). Did not make the connection. Being a polite gent, I usually say POQ- pass out quietly- if necessary.
Had best go as the screen is jumping about and working so slowly. Fond wishes to all who are ailing, love to Mary and MiniMary (what a lovely child she seems to be, but I bet she has her moments). Also hello Dutch, running around and worrying about your many friends. Colin.

Back from my CBT. He talked to me about the present situation with mum and dad. How all my questions to myself don't help as I do not have the answers. Had a laugh when I told him I am taking ear plugs to the U2 concert to protect my ears from the noise. I saw a post on here where someone lives 20 mins away and could hear the concert. I know sound travels in the night air but flipping heck! I was really tense going to cbt have a head ache again, my ears and shoulders feel the stress.

Got a lovely post card from Lindy in the Algarve now in Brasil, today. What a lovely suprise. Looked a lot of people on the beach, but when I put my glasses on it was the post mark! lol

OMG I'm turning into my mum.

Very excited as some lovely people are getting suprises soon. I know, it's all cloak and dagger stuff !!! Can't talk to anyone about it :o)
Oh should I delete this bit? My tongue is getting loose.

Good morning all, hope today will be a good one for you all. Not sure what I am doing this morning, probably scrapbooking. This afternoon I have an appointment with the hypertension clinic. a rather grand name for a new scheme where the nurse keeps a check on the BP of those people on BP medication!!!

Since reading about our Mary's wedding cake, for some reason I have had the song Wooden Heart, going round and round in my tiny brain. It is starting to get very annoying.

Carole, hope the tablets start to work very soon. I forgot to take my pills yesterday and having a very rough/painful day today, so have been into the pain meds, which I hate.

I do not envy you Ann in glos with high blood pressure. I am lucky and take after my dad, I have low blood pressure, since I have put on a bit of weight it is now still under normal, but not so low that I get dizzy. My mother had high blood pressure for many years. My OH also has lowish blood pressure, he usually shocks the medicos as he is a really big man (but not fat like me) and they always expect it to be high. Mine is usually 110/70 OH is 115/80.

I cannot wait to see mini Mary's web site with her bags. She really is a very special young woman.

Love and hugs

Gail

Edit, forgot to mention, I watched the biggest mob of kangaroos across the river today, it was just amazing, there would have to have been at least 50 of them. Grazing is getting scarce so guess they are coming in closer for food. Great to watch them.

OMG does it ever end????? I drove Em to dance camp ( a 1/2 hr drive each way) and as we drove in the parking lot, she announced that she had forgotten her lunch. Well I can't leave her starving so back home I come, intending to run in quickly and grab the forgotten bag and back out. In the 30 secs it took me to get to the kitchen, Gareth had noticed that I'd not locked the door and out he went - straight in to the FULL rain barrel outside the door. pulled the downspout off the wall, and then realised it was too full and he couldn't stand up. Meg and I with all our strength, got him out, looking like a drowned rat and stinking (apparently there is algae in the bottom of the barrel). Now I am squelching as I walk, he's had a shower, and he's going to ride with me to take Em's lunch, to keep him safe for another hour.
Sarah went with Mummy and Em to get Em a new body suit for dance (she's suddenlt grown), last evening, and Sarah discovered a table to ballet shoes on sale. proceeded to sit down and try them on - the saleslady was so sweet, brought them to her and treated her like a queen. next thing Sarah (who is NOT slim not dainty) was doing pirouettes round the shop. came home in her new ballet slippers and wore them, to bed. She loves dance, so she's thrilled she has shoes like Em. No dainty dancer this one.Absolutely hilarious to watch her point her toes and pirouette.
You may have heard on the news that a tornado touched down a bit north-east of Toronto last evening. My son and his g/f were on a train, heading to Toronto from Montreal where they had spent 3 days to celebrate dave's 35th b'day. When the tornado hit, accompanied by thunder, lightening and high winds of course, the power went out on the train and there they sat, in tornado alley - scary but safe thank goodness. I was watching the sky from the 4th floor where I work, high up a hill, across the lake from Toronto, up there I can pick out buildings in Toronto on a clear day. The sky was the most amazing yellowy colour, the clouds were striking pink and black,, we only had the thunderstorms not the winds. It was quite a sight.
have to run again, back to St Catharines, with Em's lunch.
BTW Gail I have shaken off my wooden heart, I am quite vulnerable again!!!!!
Group hug,
Mary

Gail I envy you being able to watch kangaroos, so much more exotic than the squirrels we get to watch.

My BP today was 116/66 so quite good, helped by the tablets of course, everything else on the MOT check was fine, bloods, were Ok so that mean cholesterol was down, no diabetes etc. Nurse checked lifestyle, exercise, diet, 'do you smoke'? ...'No', 'what about alcohol' ? 'what about it?' I asked. Told her what we drank and she was happy with it.

Mary, what an exciting life you do lead!! Have you got a lid for the water barrel? Goodness the lad does need full time watching, it must be exhausting for you. Lovely that Sarah has her dancing shoes.

Just looking in quickly before I go to bed. Had a chat with Dutch tonight, hope I cheared her up a bit.

Mary my mum and dad used to laugh at me when I was a kid going to bed in my new things, funny thing is I can't remember doing it. Especially the crash helmet they say I wore to bed! Bet she loves those shoes xx

Had a friend from work to visit me tonight. Brought me some lovely flowers and a card from them all at work. Angie also brought cream cakes ( she knows how to make me smile) so coffee and cakes. We walked Coco and had a good chat.

Been to see Dad, took Mum with us. He was just being put back into bed. Quite chatty this afternoon. They are trying to build him up.

Had heavy rain early tonight with hail stones. Hope we are going to get a better weekend xx

Just had a lovely suprise from my friends on GR. Postman delivered a huge bunch of beautiful flowers with their own vase! Peach roses, yellow chrisanths, orange lilies, deep purple somethings, and some that look like large friesias with deep green leaves all round the edge. I'll take photos and put on facebook for you all to see. (And chocolates). Thank you very much to you all, what a lovely feeling to know I have such friends as you all xxx

Glad you like them Carole and they cheered you up. I am going to dentist at 10-30 for a loose tooth out, should have been Monday but he didn't want to risk it in case I bled too much, he wanted to see my prescription first.
Everyone who pm'd and e-mailed me I will answer as soon as I can, got taken by surprise at the amount of mail.
As you will gather I will go straight to bed when I get home but be back maybe tomorrow.

Love and Hugs to all.
