thank you Gill, I keep thinking it would be so much easier if it was summer and I was not hampered by sweaters etc. I will try that idea though.

I like the sound of your little bit of world too.

YorkshireCaz Report 12 Mar 2008 10:56

Ann you won't come undone so stop worrying, I had a long cut down tummy with over 30 staples. When they came out I thought my scar was bound to come open. It's a natural worry, is why they leave stitches and staples in so long, the main thing is to do as you are told, and not lift anything. As for your sore spot, I wouldn't put a plaster on it, my nurse told me to put a piece of fine gauge bandage folded over and placed on the spot, secured with mypore tape. It prevents clothes rubbing and gets air to it, but take it off when undressed.

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2008 11:00

Thanks caz, got some of that iw ill do that then. The plaster is loose down the sides as I cut the sticky off so the air can get in. But will use the Mypore.

As long as you dont put mypore over the scar Ann, gauze will let it breath but secure well away from scar.

Scooby's Report 12 Mar 2008 11:27

Morning all , I have never had stitches for anything (touches wood) but I reckon I would worry just the same as you Ann, in fact I know I would so you are not on your own.
Don't know if any of you remember that I was going to aqua fit as a birthday treat to myself last month, well I never got there but I did manage to go to our local leisure centre last week with a friend. We were both scared stiff of how we would look in out cossies, but we braved it and stayed in the pool for 4 hours,my friend didn't really want to come out even then. Anyway we are off again today but can't go next week as I am going to the IOWight.
Take care everyone

Janet, 4 hours in the pool, that is a long time. I had only ever had 3 stitches before when I had a small cyst removed from the back of my head.

Caz, I wont stick anything on the scar.

Ann it is one of those leisure pools that has jacuzzis and water spas and all sorts of interesting things. We stayed near the underwater jets in the hope that they would disperse our -That stuff you get on your legs-can't remember it's name

Yes that's it, don't think we will be in for so long today though. They have an outside pool too which has wild water and it is really warm so you can go out in it in any weather-so this morning it was raining and i thought well I'm not going out in there today 'cos I'll get wet (Senior moment!!!)
Have you seen my thread on general board about my son's dog? take a look if you like dogs

Orange peel, I love it!! Must remember that one. . . .
We had yet another snowfall overnight, only about an inch, they say it could go on until April - I am fed up with it.
I am making progress on the papers I am compiling to send to rellies of my fathers first wife, been a very interesting, emotionally draining activity, but I am so glad to have found her family 68 years after her death. Heart-breaking to read some of it and to think how my father felt when her received the fateful telegram. Had he lived he would be 103 years old in 2008, my mother's brother is still alive at 105 - in New Zealand. Still playing chess . . . .

Deanna Report 12 Mar 2008 17:33

Ann, I know what it is like, and Caz is right....do not put anything on it.
I meant anything creamy or medicinal.

I was a long time recovering from my stitches... well they were staples...the surgeon decided to take some out as they were pulling and it was really sore.
you will know what I mean.
Mine were down my stomach... the nurses called it a ZIP.... which I thought very funny until I saw it.. it really does look like a zip!

I had the district nurses coming in to me for about four months. They are all so lovely, and it must be hard treating everyone as *the most favourite patient*, but they do don't they?

Well, I have had a phone call from the doctors. The upshot is SHE WANTS ME TO GO FOR ANOTHER BLOOD TEST~!
IT seems I am anaemic, still not sure why... but I have to have another test to see if I need IRON!

Course I'm anaemic... they keep bleeding me! ;-0)
Anyway how are you all?
And how is your weather?
My phones are broken, and I am missing my little phone by my chair... it is my life line to my friends.

AND ANN, you moan all you want, you have walked the walk. You are entitled to have a moan. ;-0)

Chin up everyone,
Deanna X

AnninGlos Report 12 Mar 2008 17:41

thank you Deanna, I am mainly sore where they yanked the drain out of me that I had in over night. Compared to yours and caz's scars mine is not so big, about 5 inches across under the bra line. I have to put antibiotic cream on twice a day for a week, then leave it for a week, then moisturise it. Ho, Hum, it will get better I am sure.

Meant as fun

This little poem is for my gang
My friends in cyber space
We natter here and sometimes moan
Our probs .we try to face

A funny bunch from young to old
Some fat some thin I'm sure
But one thing we all hope and pray
Is for that sudden cure

Now Yorkshire Caz has us in fits
With all her funny ways
But watch out girl your bum you'll bruise
On one of these fine days

Tinkerbell Carole remembers us all
No names she does confuse
But when in town she needs to know
Just where to find the loos

Purple Sparkly known as Liz
She does the late late stint
But what she calls her other half
Is just too rude to print

Twinkle Twinkle our Elaine
Her neighbour made her cry
Your really calm you know Elaine
I'd punch them in the eye

Now Gloucester Ann you must watch out
When lying in the nude
Will help you heal I'm sure of that
But some might think it rude

Scooby's Janet our water babe
Enjoys it in the pool
But 4hours dear is far too long
But bet you looked real cool

Poor Deanna's got no telephone
Now lonely in her chair
Life can be a bl---y pain
It really isn't fair

To those I havent mentioned yet
I really am so sorry
My memory is not so good
Now that's another worry

love
