I am not getting up early to phone clinic for appt. for him tomorrow because today he has not showered or got dressed .He went to bed at 8pm without any supper .I do worry that he is depressed but at 19 what can I do ? Is he a normal teenager ?? Doesn't like water , doesn't speak much ,eats rubbish , sleeps while I am up and gets up while I am in bed ??
Suppose he is !!

Kathy my son is 23 this July and is still like yours!!
He should have been a hamster! Get's up and runs about when we are in bed, takes mounds of food to his bedroom! Grunts, never smiles

Well I'm so worried this morning have to pick up three pasengers to drive to work. Already started going to the loo. One pasenger is a man so makes it even worse, one I don't get on with! Off again

maxiMary Report 25 Mar 2008 14:01

Elaine write it down and take the paper with you. That will help keep you focused. One time I wrote everything down and read 'the story' to the GP, I usually take notes with me if I want to mention more than one thing!!
You can do it.

Elaine, That's just what happens to me. As I am seeing my GP in an hour I will try the advice given by Mary & Dave.Lets hope it will work for both of us.

Hi everyone
Elaine I think you have a fairly common problem for people who are low . Years ago I wrote how I was feeling right then and there. I took it to the doctor and said read this. It was so much easier and you are putting down your true feelings, please try it, your doctor won't mind. Many people panic when they see their doctor and then things go out of their head, I sometimes put off going in case I make a fool of myself but they soon get used to you.
Brian, I so agree with you, I think this world is frightening.
Carole, adrenalin kicks in when you have to be strong and then you're left trembly. I wonder if you panic because you wonder if although you have helped a person you might have given the wrong aid and you have to be sure they are not going to die.
Love and best wishes to everyone else
Janet

I think we all have a mental block as soon as we get into the doctor. My problem is that I go infrequently, then when i do go I have several things to ask/tell. Luckily my GP is very patient but I think taking notes in with you (they need only need a couple of words to remind you of a point. tell him/her why you are doing it. It helps the GP if you can say clearly what is wrong and notes will help with that.
gill, thanks for nudging the Greaders thread. I was in town. had to met a friend, OH has 'man flu' (cough and cold) so couldn't come. I am not too sore but it is the first time I have been to town on my own since the op so was a bit apprehensive. Managed to buy a few bits and carry them on the opposite shoulder to my op, seems to have been OK.

Hi all, just a quickie to say hello and hope you girls going to the doc, get things written down and/or said the way you want, so the doc can help you and you don't come away frustrated cos you forgot to tell them something or it didn't come out the way you want. Another thing to do is ask for a double apptmt then you won't feel so rushed, the doc will have a little more time with you.
Kerry, enjoy the time off with your family, and take photos to look back on when you feel low, they will make you smile again. Pin them up somewhere so you can see them when you get up or when you need a smile.

Carole, and Kathy, my son is like that and lives alone so his flat is almost always a mess, he is constantly tired but goes out till all hours and spends hours on the computer.
When I go round the heating is on high, altho he did at least have the window of the bedroom open and the balcony doors open, heating still on high tho, and it was 5pm and getting damp cold air in.
He said, well you did tell me to get some air in the place, bless him, what could I say? He is sitting in a tshirt, heating 21 degrees.
Sometimes has a blitz to tidy up and a huge washing up session, when he runs out of plates etc.
Never a towel in the bathroom - I dried my clean hands on his tshirt the other day, while he was wearing it lol
Everyone else, too many names for me to type as I have just got up, hope the rest of the day is kind to you.
I had a call from my counsellor this morning, woke me up and I tried to call her back on her mobile no as she is obviously at home, she sounded dreadful, think she said she has pancreatitis? and tonsillitus so left the mobile number for me. It was busy so I left a message to say I was going back to bed and would call this pm, better get on with it in a mo.
Take care
love
Lizxx

MM hope to talk this evening.

Hi there Kerry, so good you are still enjoying your job, holidays off with children and paid as well - wonderful - have a nice holiday!!

Elaine - do as advised honey - write everything down - no shame in doing that now is there - going to the doctor is a bit like going to an interview - lots of people come out after and think - "wish I'd said this that or the other" Go on and do it!!!!

Hi Ann, Yes am really enjoying work thanks..Its the best thing ive done for ages and to think i was so unsure about taking it..
Now im after a bit of advice fron anyone who can help,My 16yr old daughter has asked me if she can go to the Reading Festival (a music festival) for those who dont know, you know the one we all see on the news with millions of tents in fields and mud everywhere...Ive told her i will think about it but the tickets go on sale nxt Monday so i need to decide soon and shes nagging me..She is a very senseable grown up and mature 16 yr old but....I know she will have a drink there and there are drugs floating around the place..Ive given her the talk time and time again and i do trust her its just a big thing for her to go to and at 16 is she mature enough to handle a weekend of no sleep and drinking...Would you let yours go?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 25 Mar 2008 16:37

I think only you can make that decision Kerry we don't know her. if it was mine I would have said no but then when I had a 16 year old they seemed a lot younger than they do now. will she be with friends? Do you know her friends well? do they drink enough to get drunk (because that is when they are susceptible to drugs). If you say no, will she accept your decision?

Don't envy you having to make the decision anyway but good luck.

Hi back again, can't get a reply from counsellor so no further forward, she said she wants to talk to me so maybe about seeing a different person while she is off, I don't know, but very disappointed that things have again gone awry.

Kerry, who would your daughter be going to Reading with. I would only consider it if she is going with two or three other sensible people that you know and can trust so that they all agree not to get totally out of it, and can watch out for each other at all times and stay together.
Good luck, it gets harder as they get older not easier, I think, lol
Lizx

p.s. Phone went as I was posting this, counsellor has laryngitis not pancreatitis, and then has a holiday next week on Exmoor!
We have decided therefore to go for a fresh start of apptmts beginning Tuesday 8th April so hopefully things will flow smoothly from then on.

Hi Ann, yes a bit aggravating as we were just getting into things, but she seems to be caring that she has left me high and dry so to speak so I am sure she will help me eventually.
Hope you are feeling better now and the rest of the day is nice for you.
I have just brought in a couple of hyacinths that had been bent over by the snow, the rest seem to have sprung back up. Their perfume is wonderful.
Off for a bath now, before o.h. gets home and sees my on here lol

Liz that was practically a death sentence you gave your councillor!!

pancreatitis..... laryngitis??? It did make me laugh.;-0)

Well today it has been FREEZING all day.
and even though I have been religiously taking my tablets (iron) I have had a bit of a bad day.... just the usual *don't feel too good* nothing very bad.

Hope you are all doing okay. I never manage to get on in time to say good morning... I'm more your GOOD NIGHT girl.
Sorry, I do try.

Look after yourselves and I'll see if I can manage breakfast with you tomorrow instead of supper.... ;-0)
