War Graves in Stroud are under threat - from badgers And the problem is not going to be an easy one to solve.

Badgers have excavated close to the grave of Private Albert Mynett the green spaces manager for Stroud Town Council which manages the cemetery, faces a 'balancing act'.

"It's a huge badger sett, which has grown an extra five metres in the last year and it's encroaching on war graves.

"It's a balancing act between accommodating wildlife, maintaining a cemetery and occupational health and safety."

The grave most directly affected is that of Private Mynett who died on March 29, 1921 aged 25. He was the son of George and Eve Mynett of Stroud, and was married to Anne.

Mr Frances said it was likely Pte Mynett died in the influenza epidemic after the First World War.
