Problem uploading a GEDCOM

I'm having trouble uploading a GEDCOM of my family tree. I've contacted support with a sample GEDCOM but they just said to export from my family tree software again (which given I'd tried GEDCOM's from three different family tree programs multiple times wasn't very helpful).

I'm working on a Mac - has anyone had trouble uploading a GEDCOM from a Mac before?

(I'm reduced to trying to upload GEDCOM's containing just one individual, myself, definitly including my forename, surname and year of birth, I'm not sure I'm getting the character set right - none of the software is offering ANSI as an option).

Any advice or suggestions welcome.

EDIT: Problem solved - it turns out the import software doesn't like the Safari web browser
