William Williams Yes Register Offices do have the Church marriage certificates as well as the Civil Marriages, but they are in registers under the names of the churches. There are more churches than register offices so they have more registers to look at in the area you have given them. Get my meaning? Not forgetting that not all the Register Offices have digitalised their BMDs so they are not able to just 'Search' on a database - they have to physically take the register off the shelf and look thru it. Wilf Range Certificates for BMDs are only available from Register Offices where they were registered or the Office of National Statistics (ONS) in Southport for the whole country. You will have to pay more at Southport and you need the index ref as they are the only ones who use that as reference. Hope this helps Vera, Manchester |
