Frustrated from Surrey

I have been recieving emails saying that people are interested in specific people in my tree when they have been emailing me about something that I have posted on the tips board. Then it has been saying that I have allowed them access to my tree and I have had to cancel this. I think that some bugs have appeared after this new update as I havent had this problem before but it gets me all excited when I think someone has a connection and it always seems to be the ancestors that Im desperate for info on!!

I clicked on an envelope yesterday and sent an email to somebody who had posted a Frederick Gill born in the same year as a Fred Gill in my tree. I recieved an email back from this person and they said that they have absolutely no Gills in their tree and that they had not posted this individual - it would appear the email has routed through to the wrong member. I contacted GC last night and am awaiting a response. I hope that this is a only a temporary problem as it is frustrating for both those sending and recieving emails that go to the wrong member.

Monica Have you given Linda access to your tree at some time, as it could be that, if there is a connection, she has updated her tree from yours. I have done this myself where I have a quite extensive tree on my wife's side and another member to whose tree I have access has bits which I am missing, so I have copied them across, verifying it as I go or else anotating to show the source as unverified.

I have just searched for Ermintrude Chiles and it tells me I have already contacted you about her! Now I don't know who I've contacted about who. I shall be in danger of contacting folk twice unless I keep my own log. Jill

Monica DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE US - WE'RE MATES NOW! Have you given anyone a copy of your family tree data, other than what you have input on the GC site? I found two Bromage family cousins and gave them all my data in printed form for their records. One of them has now put all that info on the GC site with his other family names and, of course, because I have given him my info both entries (his & mine) seem to be the same, but with the odd difference. Does that make sense? But then it does not excuse someone not replying to your messages. Stay with us, kid, between us we are a formidable force. Tee hee!! Regards Vera, Manchester

Thanks everybody, with friends like you I can't give up now! William you have emailed me in the past so when you click on my icon, it is meaning that you have contacted me in the past, but not necessarily about Edward.( I think) I suppose if I have waited since Feb for a reply- I can wait a little longer! But has anyone else found someone with matching trees for both themselves and their partner!I still think it is a statistical improbability!

William I think that in the past you have probably contacted Monica either to search a name or just a reply someway. so my guess you have emailed her at some point, and every name she has in her tree will say contacted. Hope you understand this. Debbie

Hello Monica, me again! have just entered "Chiles" in the search, and there are quite a few entries under both your name and Linda's. It looks to me as though you are both researching the same people!

Thanks for your quick replies, isn't PMT awful! I'm still not convinced-I contacted her in Feb as she matched up with my side(Potters) and now she appears on the Chiles( hubby's)-that is too much of a coincidence, and how come she has allegedly entered the exact names as me,no more no less, no one reaches the exact stage in their research at the same time, surely. I will do another experiment to make sure-I will enter Ermintrude Chiles( a made up name) could someone please search for it and see if it gets assigned to this Linda Ta, but give me some time to do it!

Hello Monica, my server is playing up tonight and keeps disconnecting me and won't check my e-mails, so she could be having the same problem!

I am totally frustrated tonight on the verge of giving up on this site. I have been convinced there was a problem with the site as I am sure my entries have been wrongly assigned to someone-- they refute this, but the person in question will not reply to clarify it.Please if I have any friends out there could you help me- could you please type in Edward George Chiles b 1891 Penge,in the search facility and tell me whose name appears in the envelope- it should be me as I have enterd him, or if GC are right a Linda woodhouse will appear too. Thank you. I await replies.

Monica Dont forget when you do a search in the main search page your own name does not appear, If you do a search for the name in your name summary board you should see it, I think that means Linda is tracing the same part of family as you. Give her a bit of time to reply you know some people take their time. Please Monica dont give up we would all miss you so much. Debbie
