My earliest is a marriage in 1796 of which I have a copy of the parish record. Don't know if it counts, because a cousin who contacted me thru GC actually did the research! (Thanks Peter!) Dierdre X

We have a thread about who has the most names, but how about the earliest. Don't rush into this one I am serious. Can you put your hand on your heart and confirm by your own knowledge and research that you have personally checked all the details or this exercise is pointless. Starting it off, My earliest proven ancestor was baptised in 1676 Jim, Gosport, HAM.
