Netscape has an option to turn off pop-ups. I think OPERA has a similar option. MB

Have you seen the thread on the Tips Board on the same subject? It's called "Help!!!" from Meryl Dent. Currently the last post was 18.20 5/7 so you have to go back a bit to find it.

Elizabeth, I use EMS Free Surfer mk II to kill popups. It's free and beeps everytime a pop up is killed and lists them all. Occasionally it kills a valid popup but you can add the URL to a safe list very easily. You can download it from here http://www.webattack(.)com/get/freesurfer(.)shtml If you can't get to this link, go to the Webattack website and click on Freeware and then Popup Blockers under the Browser Tool section. You'll see EMS Free Surfer listed there. Crista

Blocking the pop-ups will do no good as long as the program(s) on your PC remain. See the TIPS board "1 STOP PC Maintenance" and download the two suggested programs, ADAWARE and SPYWAREBLASTER. After running ADAWARE take note of any .exe files found in the scanned results. Those exe programs need to be removed from your PC which are more than likely on your C DRIVE in your PROGRAM file. They need to be removed using your PC's ADD REMOVE PROGRAM feature (opposed to deleting.) Once they're removed a pop-up blocker is what you want to use. If spyware/adware are left to accumulate on your PC without removing the cause they can cause all sorts of problems. Judy :)
