They were harsh on people in those days. Not Graveyards but outside your own front door! MAIDSTONE BOROUGH Session Files 72 Summons for Pavement Repairs 1760 The probable date of these summons was 10 Nov 1760. The repairs were to be carried out by 25 December under a penalty of 6d per yard. First couple of entries : Allen Peter Bullock Lane 3yds plus rails Austen John Waterside 4 yds of wall Barr Richard High Street 10 yds

Hevi, When I researched my Denham/Deanham/Denam ancestors I found they originated from Bowes, N.Yorkshire and from the Quarter Session Records I discovered a list of named males including Anth.Denam all of Bowes were up at court in Thirsk "for playing at football on the Sabaoth daie" dated April 26 1609. whilst trawling through the priory one this lunch time came across a notice that said that they were fed up with the continued damage etc of the church windows, the gravestone etc and they were going to take steps to stop it therefore Any cattle straying into the church grounds would be fined £1 Boys were not to use the church grounds as a playing field dated 1837 moral, do not let the powers that be try and tell us that it is our children who started the vandalism of church yards just thought i would let you know. hevi ps didnt have a pen or would have written it down word for word
