Try looking at some of the medieval history sites on the web some have document from as far back as the 12th century and some are searchable

Hi Peter. There are few, if any, Parish registers before 1500. You will need to look at other Parish Documents like Land Registry and Wills etc. Best of luck Jim

can anyone help me. I have traced back to an ancester who died in 1541, but cannot go back any further. anyone got any ideas as to where to look from there?
