Hi Sue, If you go to the start area bottom left of screen, then to all programes, a list will appear. Fifth item from top says windows update. Click on this to take you to the website Crista recommended. I had no trouble getting it today. Problem is, I still find it as clear as mud and don't have a clue what I should download or not! The other night tried to download one and two hours later it still hadn't finished! (Maybe my internet connection had switched itself off??) I still get the update balloon, though do have Firewall, and live in terror of worms and viruses! What a pain all this complicated "techie" stuff is!!! Also been recommended to run Clean Up's every day or two, and something to do with Spybot????? Someone - please pass the Prozac!!!!!!! Dierdre X PS Crista, thnks for your help :) How come you're so knowledgeable re computers? X

I don't know if it's just coincidence but since that well known chain of stores removed my WORM last week and I put in the Firewall, the urgent updates messages have stopped!!! I was worried when I did have them - now I'm worried that I don't!!. I'm STILL getting website unavailable on microsoft updates. I'll keep trying tho'. Sue

Sue and Dierdre, You REALLY need to install those updates that appear at the bottom right part of your screen. They contain patches for security issues like that worm amongst other things. Go here to see if you need updates: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft(.)com/en/default.asp Crista

Hello Sue.. Sorry, can't answer your question, but can say "snap!". I've just got a new computer with Windows XP, I had the flipping WORM last week, and I keep getting those messages too! Why oh why does it all have to be so complicated??? Dierdre X

Theres nothing like `hands on' is there. I realy am learning as I go. I only began to use the computor when it was suggested that `we' (the royal one) do some family research!!! Many many thanks to all who put up messages and answer questions! Now - I have windows XP and every so often a little thingy pops up at the bottom of the screen saying automatic updates - should I say yes to all of these and allow the computor to install them?? Quite frankly the whole thing is a mystery to me I dont understand the half of what they're saying but since having the WORM last week, which incidentally messed up my printer, or maybe I did I don't know, I have installed the firewall and have become a bit paranoid about not having the right security. Sue.
