Thank you all for your messages! The information I found out about my gt grandad Callaghan was really interesting. My grandad told me he was in both world wars and that he lied about his age to get in to the army for the 1st war and his hair turned gray when he was 17 because he was gased! I think I upset my grandad a bit though coz my gt grandad was apparently a bit of a bully after the wars and he used to make my grandad and his brothers strip and then hit them all over with the belt when they'd misbehaved and my grandad never forgave him for it , he kind of got a far away look in his eye when he said this so I dropped the subject. But I'm happy with that little peek in to my back ground! I also got picture's of both grandparents and I couldn't believe how much alike my mum and my gt grandma are it's uncanny! Alaina

Great news Alaina. It makes your ancestors almost 'come alive' when you hear stories about them and their lives. So much more interesting than just dates of birth, marriage and death. Hope this now gives you a lot of new leads to follow.

Good to hear Alaina. Makes me think I'd better go and visit my last remaining grandparent before he leaves this mortal coil! Jeanette

Hi All I just couldn't wait to get back to work today to share with you all my fantastic news! I managed to get back home to Leeds this weekend and see my grandparents hurrah! and I found out so much information about my grandad Callaghan's parents and brother's and sister I'm fit to burst with the excitment! I found out my gt grandparents names were Thomas Callaghan and Mary Agnes Duffy and that my grandad originally comes from a place called Keighley in Yorkshire! On my quest to find out about my Gibson line, My other nanna told me that my auntie looks after the Gibson family bible and that she would ask if I could borrow it for my research! She also gave me information about her family aswell and told me that my gt gt gt grandma woz married 3 time and one of her husbands was the captain of a ship! I just want to say a big thank you to those of you who told me to go ahead with asking my nanna Gibson about me grandad and giving me the courage to ask my grandad Callaghan about his family Alaina x
