Hello again, Have just checked the 'links' and think I may have the answer to my question above (1837 site). Hope to find some answers there! Thanks, Jan.

Hi, I'm new to this site too, so could you please let me know what the '1837 site' is, Jim? Looking forward to researching my tree (but need a little help at the moment!) Many thanks, Jan.

No Kate you don't need to know them, you need to find out about them. A totally alone person can do it. Start with your birth certificate. There are the names of your Father & Mother. Look at the 1837 site for a marriage of those two people a year or so either side of your birth date and apply for the certificate, and Look there are the names of your 2 Grandfathers. It really is exciting to find the new names and people we are descended from. Good luck in your research, and I hope you have as much fun doing it as I have had. Jim
