Margaret Just thought l'd tell you this.Years ago when l first moved to live with my nan, l played with twins who lived opposite me.Everyone used to say how alike we were.When l was fourteen l found out they were infact my brother and sister.Sadly the man they knew as there father died some years later, little did they know that there father was infact still alive.I was sworn to secracy and as l far as l know they don't know the truth.So hope you find ur sister.Good luck Jude

Hi Margaret, Have you looked on 1837.com. It is a really good site and will show you if there was a child registered in 1946 with the name Dodds. It will show the area and most importantly the childs mothers maiden name. Hope it helps. Jim McKinney. Sussex

i am going to Southshields tyn & wier soon. I was told by my adopted mother that my birth mother had another child after me.I was told this when i was very young. i have met my birth mother and her sisters who are in there 60's & 70's but deny there was another child, i think maybe beacause the father was coloured.I am not sure even of the year,guess could be 1946 i was born 1945 even first name not known only that on the birth certificate her name must be dodds, mothers name,i know she was born in south shields any ideas of help
