Thanks Jeanette I have a gg?/grandfather probably born March 1851 (worked out from his army discharge papers) in Aberdeen. The trouble is I can't find him. Can anyone help please.. Francis Townsend. Parents Robert and Mary Ann, Robert was born c1929 Glasgow and Mary Ann (maiden Name Unknown) b c1827 Aberdeen. banging my head against this brickwall! Sylvia

Sylvia The date of the 1851 census was Sunday March 30th. I believe it was the same date in Scotland as in England Jeanette

can anyone tell me please the actual date that the 1851 census was taken ...was Scotland the same date as England? I'm particularly interested in whether Aberdeen was before or after April 1851 many thanks, Sylvia
