I have just received an email with the title of a line I had written in an email to someone stating I was fed up with SPAM. It was offering me SPAM guard. I would like to know how a company has managed to get access to a letter sent to someone else!! This is all getting a bit scary - Big Brother is watching you. Jacky

Agree with Viv. Except, you should delete these without opening them Anything unrecognised, delete. Virus's/worms/trojans/zombies can sometimes get past Anti-virus and Firewalls. Badger Bill, Worthing

Hi badger, how do you delete messages without opening them first?

Hi. You should see a small box to the left of the title of the email. Tick the box and then hit the delete button. Keith

My email doesn't work like that. The incoming mail at the top of the list is on show on the screen with a small paperclip sign if there is an attachment. If that email is deleted then the next on the list will be seen on the screen and so on. With Hotmail I know that emails can be deleted before being opened but I usually run on Outlook Express. It is a case now of recognising the titles and sender and deleting quickly! Jacky

I just press delete and it does the same. What I was trying to explain that unlike Hotmail and maybe others, the message is displayed and not just sender and title which on those you can delete without seeing the message. It isn't a problem. I am getting so used to receiving them now! Jacky

If you are seeing part of the mail message before you open it, then you probably have the auto preview switched on. This will normally only show you some of the text of the mail, this would not contain a virus. The virus would be eitehr in the attachment or in the html that you see when you fully open the mail.

Hi everyone - hope this helps. Download a free programme called mailwasher (www.mailwasher.net) and you can read your emails up on the net before you download them. Another free programme is www.mail2web.com - this one allows you to pick up your mail worldwide from any computer. You can again view messages up on the net before downloading to your computer. I had 200 attempts in 36 hours of people trying to send me the sobig virus but none got through by using the above programmes. Joan
