Adding youngsters on GC

Marion I totally agree. I don't think it is a good idea at all to add names of youngsters, and the few little ones I have included in my tree are entered as 'living' + surname. I have been asked in the past if photos of my youngest can be used on the net (for a nursery) and in the local paper and I've had to say no. She's got the face of an angel (and the personality of the devil!) and it only takes one sick person - you know what I mean. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her. It's the sign of the times I'm afraid. Jeanette:-(

I suppose I'm more concerned about adding little ones rather than those who are old enough to access the site or be old enough to create links, Marion

I always put anyone under 18's first name as Living and then put in my notes who they are. I think is a pretty secure way to do it as no-one can see the notes unles syou are giving them access to view your tree. I'm a bit more unsure about the permission issue. If you don't put the person's name in if you think they are still alive then surely you're missing a possible link up. I'm of the opinoin that if they contact me and ask me to remove it I'd do it without hesitation - tho I'm not sure where I stand with this one Zoe SCOTLAND

I was a little anxious about adding my grandaughter to my tree on GC, and after a while removed her name. I notice lots of youngsters are filling up the New Names summary, and with the present climate I wonder how safe this is. There is also the other policy of having to have the permission of living persons and as they are too young to answer for themselves I wonder how much anonimity they should have. Does anyone else feel the same as myself? Marion
