Westgate Newcastle is/was in the County of Northumberland,now newcastle upon tyne.Westgate nr Stanhope is in the county of Durham.So they are 2 different places.Northumberland and Durham were next to each other.Im sure places are given the same name in order to confuse us!!

Some of my family came from Westgate, Nr. Stanhope, Co. Durham. Is Westgate, Newcastle, the same area, or is this a borough within Newcastle. Audrey
