When you do a name search and you get a list of the surname you are looking for how would i know who was really related to me and who just happend to share the same surname.Im new so any advice would be great. Claire

Claire, If a year and place of birth have been entered by the tree owner, these should appear as well. This helps decides whether it is your relative or not. If you are interested in the relative, click on the envolope symbol to send a message to the tree owner. You have to be a member to do this. Questions like this are more appropriate for the "Tips" Board. Gillian
