Who resurrected this? LOL 5 months on and we still don't know how to log onto this site! I wonder if any more deaths have been added since I first discovered this site. Did anyone ever get a reply from their e-mails to the site? I didn't, despite mailing them 4 times. Sue Update: Just put in details of a friend who died a year ago today - nothing. Then put in her parents in law (died 2001 and 2003) - nothing, although there are some deaths listed from 2003.

How do you log in to this site? I can search the names then I click but it takes me to a log in screen! I bet that it scans your tree while you have it open!

Having visited the site in question I cannot access the data without being a registered user but there are no links to do so . Anybody know how to do this? Andy

Hi Sue I have been on this site at last after days of trying, I got on late at night when it was not so busy. I found some relatives, the ones whose names had appeared in large papers death notices and not the ones from small local papers. So I think that is the source. KInd regards Stella

For those of you having trouble accessing the site talked about on this thread, try this: Fixing “Website Can’t Be Found” and other Site Error Messages More than likely you have trouble with accessing quite a few sites.....particularly getting the message "website can't be found" among a few other error messages. Try the following and it should solve your problem. 1. Go to START. 2. Click on CONTROL PANEL. 3. Click on INTERNET OPTIONS. 4 A box appears with tabs labeled across the top. Click on ADVANCED. 5. Scroll down to the sub-heading SECURITY. 6. Make sure the following has check marks next to it: Use USE SSL 2.0, USE SSL 3.0 and USE TLS 1.0. 7. Also make sure you check off EMPTY TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE WHEN BROWSER IS CLOSED. More than likely USE TLS 1.0 is not checked off and it should be. This will give you the error messages, as well as a few others, that will prevent you from viewing web sites and the error you are getting. Judy

Am I paranois or what? If I wanted a new identity wouldn't it be nice to be able to find details of someone who has recently died and then assume their identity. Of course they would need to have died fairly recently so that the 'date of birth' would be such as to the new 'me' have a viable age. Knowledge of relataives would also help to allow 'me' to valid my cover if questioned. And this, in these days of illegal immigrants, would be a real money earner. Oh..and yes, I think I am paranoid.! ??????????????

Di Was it Southwick in Sussex where your Mum died? If so, it's not that far from Worthing and maybe the death was registered there. Sue

Hi Lindzay, Thanks for the explanation. I didn't stick around long enough to recognise that as a cannon, could have sworn I saw 2 men on a tractor. Still it was late in the day and I must have been going crosseyed looking at the screen. Thanks for the message Janet. Neither of the men is my dad, born 1903 in Malta, died 1982 in Hove. Mum was born 22/11/1903 according to her birth certificate and died in 1998 in Southwick, aged 95. It's a strange coincidence that the 2 Ellens share the same birthday, but it's the wrong year and place. Thanks again both of you. Di.

Message for Di The girl with the bush on her head...Is a family member of Truter and the photo was taken in 2003 at the Hartebeesport Dam in South Africa. The black and white photos are also family members and the one with the two men on a canon has "Nylstroom"????? written on it which is also in South Africa. I too had a look on the site and wish that I had found someone I knew. Lindy

Crista I totally agree with everything you say. I was a bit concerned at first, and puzzled where the information came from, but once I realised that the information was already out there in the public domain, and could also be obtained from Ancestry by paying for it ..... well ...... it can't REALLY do any harm, can it? At least Fred's not making money out of the information! I DO understand the upset it may cause some people, and I DO understand the indescribable pain of bereavement, believe me, but there seems to be little point in getting the information removed from this one site unless it can also be removed from everywhere else, which seems to be very unlikely, I think. If the information related to deaths in the 1800's or early 1900's, we wouldn't be concerned, would we? The problem seems to be that these are the deaths of relatives we knew and loved. I sincerely hope I haven't upset anyone, as that wasn't the intention, but I do feel that we must be careful ........ in the words of Private Jones ...... "Don't Panic"! Janet

This is just the beginnings of a site. It looks like they are adding data slowly and have started with the later years first. I think Fred is doing an amazing job by providing this for free and it is very generous of him to offer to remove details. He is under no obligation to do so. This info. is on gravestones, in public libraries, on Ancestry and 1837online, obituaries etc. and there is no way it can be removed from those. I think it is a shame to remove it from here. Suppression of information is the bane of our lives and detrimental to genealogical research. I'm sure my grandmother would be rather chuffed to know her life is honoured on the internet as well as her gravestone. I think the bottom line is, if you're harbouring painful memories of a deceased relative (and this can be decades for some people), then try not to torture yourself by looking. Crista

Why can some people get on and others not? Where do you click to get on? Did anyone else get just pictures of a girl and 2 men on a tractor and what could that possibly have to do with genealogy? I want to get on and see if my parents Edgar James and Ellen Elizabeth Coleman are listed, but I don't see where to click!! HEEEEEELP! Di.
